There were a couple of blocked shots that wouldve been on target. Vik had one when he cut inside box second half, defender dived full length and blocked. They defended really well both in how they set up and last ditch efforts to block/intercept.

Both teams set up really not to lose first and win second, standard first leg game unless early goal opens things up.

It's a futile argument though as by definition they're not on target. I don't really get why posters are so hung up on this.

Credit where it's due Middlesbrough forced us to resort to said long shots that probably would've been saved anyway if on target. They were excellent defensively as we were.

From the 'Boro forum.

Been told it will be a flag night, so hope atmosphere is like Brighton game.
Red fraction, flag day, it’s going to be 12 against 11.
A flag night it’s sending shivers down my spine. Red fraction deserve a lot of credit.

They've got flags lads, no point turning up on Wednesday.

There seems to be some delusion that it was all part of some masterplan, it was poor.
very similar to the notts county game in - we did have 1 shot on target that day - the penalty
I dont think we have anything to fear from them so long as our players are all on their game

Let's hope they are louder than their away following were

Tbf their home support is usually decent but their vocal backing yesterday was dire. Not sure if it was the early start and 12pm kick off but barely heard a peep from them

Some complete rubbish being spouted on their forum today. All saying we couldn't sell out the home leg. Do they not realise they sold out days before Boro did?

Very confident too. All think McNair has sussed Gyok and that their atmosphere is going to be the best in history on Wednesday.

It's been shit all season according to other fans. Their little ultra section has been intent on starting silly songs that no one can join in with.

We were poor in that 1st leg against Notts. Soft penalty too. Come the 2nd leg it was like a completely different team.

Just wondering I had a shite view side on. But it seemed like that bullet shot from Hamer was on target? That hit the defender. It seemed at time he struck it very well would have tested the keeper for sure it seems. Clutching at straws. Lol

Did seem at times they nullified us so well we didnt have many chances to shoot from distance.
It certainly looked very much on target watching on the telly

Fell asleep this afternoon.

Dreamt about Wednesday night. We played really, really well and we're the better team, but then with time running out and it still at 0-0, the ball landed at the feet of Jones for them in our 6 yard box on the right hand side of the goal. Hamer put in a really fabulous tackle and nicked the ball off him and cleared it upfield . The ref gave it as a pen though. A real travesty. They scored and we lost 1-0.

Michael Carrick then stuck his head round the City team's dressing room after the game, grinned and said something sarcastic to Mark Robins and then disappeared back down the corridor.

It was so realistic. The only thing that made me slightly less worried, was that the game was played on a Sunday parks pitch and that I was in the dugout. Phew.

You need the rub of the green in most games, especially where fine margins decide things.
We’ve played Boro twice in a week and couldn't be separated. It Points to, if either team gets a bit of luck that could swing it.

I just hope we turn up and give ourselves every chance

I think a lot of this is going to come down to fitness rather than tactics. If they were fit and ready to go you’d have Sheaf/Hamer/Allen/Palmer in there no question.
Yes most of the selections will be based on fitness not who is the best player. None of us know how fit Allen, Sheaf and Palmer is or even Hamer for that matter.

Robins has often talked this season in his post match interviews about staying in the game and being in the game as long as you can go (which is obviously really isn't it!)... but this has usually been regarding shape and not going being over adventurous....
This is exactly what he will do on Wednesday whether we like it/have other ideas or not! .......
Is it the right thing to do?.... who knows/time will tell....
Don't expect much different from us on Wednesday....
