Yes but Barton is nowhere near good enough quality wise to consider himself above doing the hard work as Taarabt was at QPR in the championship. CM is a position where you need to work hard regardless of quality anyway
Perfectly put. Eg Paul scholes

Other than the goal scored he looks awful. Stu mentioning Thornton is interesting as Barton is similar but Thornton had more natural talent.

He has played for the most part like it's a stroll in the park. As if he's far too good for this level.

Don't doubt that he has ability but if he isn't willing to put the effort in then I think he will be in for a shock under Robins.

Let's hope the man at the helm can get him to change his old ways.

Barton is our best player from what I've seen. Good tekkers on the ball and can score from range. Just because he doesn't run round like a mad chicken doesn't mean he is no good it's just his style of play.

Did you only go to Bury and Birmingham games? ;)

Barton is what is technically known as a Dandy Desmond type player. If his attacking flair was so good it outweighed his total laziness then I could just about put up with him. I dont expect him to be winning 50/50s all over the place but he's not offering enough in an attacking sense to be able to overlook his total lack of effort. He needs to be dropped and made to wake him up a bit.

He has talent ,he was thrown in at the start of the season before being match fit with no pre-season ,and should have scored two quality goals but for the woodwork at Yeovil. His lack of

fitness cost us two goals both identical in build up down the opposiitions left flank against SU and Bury, not only that but cost the manager his job.His form naturally will have declined as the

guy who allegedly brought him here was removed .Would he have been playing if Conor Thomas had'nt been crocked by Deegan? Its all subjective and subtle is'nt it,Should we have been

recruiting that late in the window if we wer'nt in Embargo?

Looks a good player but from what I've seen is a bit light weight for his size and seems to not pay attention when he's not got the ball....

Just my 2p's worth

This is based on the Yeovil, Bury and Tranmere games and to a lesser extent Brum and Stevenage which I had half an eye on sky sports.

My favourite player so far this season anyway, obviously only turns up when I do so should be back on form tomorrow!

And was also at fault for Crewe's goal (Leich-Smith went past him with ease on the edge of the block) and both of Stevenages (losing the ball in midfield for the first and slack marking from the corner for the second),.

I'm not saying he is shit, just that he doesn't deserve his place in the side on current performances. He's actually getting off quite lightly, if he was called David Bell the lynch mob would be waiting for him...

Completely agree, thorn fucked up and only brought in two recognised central midfielder (plus Kilbane the utility), when we lost clingan, Norwood, deegan and Bigi. And then lost Thomas to injury. Interesting that Robins has brought in two midfielders.

True ,but losing Deegan and Thomas were a double whammy ,one precluding the other ,although Deegan looked like he would have to go ,it came late in the window.
