I think the main sore point is that we probably (I think definitely) had players we believed more suitable / capable to step up next. If Dabo was pen 8/9 and missed then I think things would be easier to come to terms with.

If it was Bidwell 6, Fadz 7, Wilson 8 or whatever then it comes down to your less “confident” players. Dabo and Panzo are players who haven’t looked confident of late, whereas Bidwell and Fadz are (in my mind) steady older pros. In the meantime, Luton could just have easily missed pen 7 and it’s game on.

It was a strange decision out there, most of the SBA probably half knew / feared that Dabo wasn’t the best choice at 6.

It’s going to be hard for me to get to grips with “why Dabo?”

I feel awful for the bloke. It’ll haunt him. I think he might end up back in Holland for a bit (just a hunch) to get away from things.
I think it doesn't help that if you have five penalties then some players can get in the mindset they're not taking one and so if it gets to sudden death they're not prepared.

Even though it'd take forever it'd arguably be fairer that every player playing at the end of ET had to take a penalty before the result is declared. So everyone is prepared and knows they have to take one.

Clutching at straws.... but I'd assumed you have choice of ends or taking first penalty. Stewards enquiry needed ?
Am hearing rumours also that Luton will play first 4 home games away... surely that's automatic relegation for lack of proper investment in ground rather than players.
I'm emailing the FA now to get this match replayed.🤣

I go first and foremost to watch Coventry City. Yes, it would be great to see us up against some of the best players in the world but it's hardly worth losing it over this. You've picked the best of the Prem and the not so best of the Championship. There are some big clubs in the championship : Middlesbrough, Sunderland, Wednesday, Leeds, Leicester, Norwich to mention a few and you've picked none of them.

Has received lots of racist abuse on tik tok and insta .. so I think it's best the club rally around him .. not take the piss
I'm not on tik tok or Twitter..has reference been made to his colour / heritage ? Genuine question. If he's just being abused for the penalty miss that's not racism no matter how awful it it. If reference to his colour etc has been made it's utterly shameful and these people need to be banned.

I go to watch my team, against whoever comes at us. Every game is key. I always want to win, no matter who the opponents!

My apologies , let us stagnate where we are and just be grateful we get to visit sunny Plymouth. Maybe we can stay in this league aslong as Preston have? Wouldn’t that be lovely
We were in league 2 6 years ago

perspective please, it’s heartbreaking but it’s not as bad as what it seems, especially when you’re going on like we’ve had a divine right to be in this division, which we clearly haven’t

Penalties are always a bit of a lottery. The fact that Cov got to Wembley was a great achievement in itself. Dabo had the balls to take the responsibility of taking one and although I also commented at the time that I had grave doubts about him scoring it is what it is There really are many positives looking forward and we should all be focusing on next season.PUSB

What if, based on the penalty practice they did statistically Dabo was the next best penalty taker. There’s talk that Fadz or Bidwell should have taken the 6th what if they were poor penalty takers you would choose the best taker statistically. Fans need to get it in perspective we were into the defenders and any could have missed blaming Dabo is stupid. Get a grip

But it means fuck all if you get to the final and let that clown blaze one over the bar, we may aswell of finished 4th from bottom. We’re still in the same league playing the same fucking teams we’ve played for the last 3 years
Time to get some help if you're making someone the scapegoat for the way you're feeling and reacting to the outcome. You're talking like a victim. No one has done anything to you. You chose to go to game. You choose to follow a club. You've proven you've lost all perspective with the "we may as well have finished 21st" line. Seriously - log off, talk to someone. Not healthy thinking.

I still feel gutted by the loss, but will not hold a grudge against Dabo for the miss. We didn’t start well (probably should’ve played 2 up top from the start), didn’t defend well for the goal, were very lucky to only be 1 goal down at the half and scored the 1 real chance we had and missed a few other half chances. We rode our luck several other times when they actually had the ball in our net. The unfortunate bits were when Hamer got injured, we wasted a sub on Palmer when maybe JWE could have offered something from the bench and finally the penalty miss.

Brentford, Leeds, Luton, Sheff Utd all suffered playoff losses before moving up to the EPL. Hope we can emulate them.

We have had a taste, the players have had a taste. I don't know how that cannot but a fire in your belly to not want that again. The players surely will be more determined than ever. Mark Robins will use it as a motivation and I really do believe we will be there and there abouts again next season with or without vik and hamer This is a new Coventry City we are watching, Saturday hurt badly but there is a lot of positives to take from it, even if you dont think so right now. Onwards and upwards Sky Blues

I was watching Bidwell at the end and he could hardly walk. A bit like Barry Bannan yesterday, who was subbed with two mins of ET to go despite being a top penalty taker.

Just try to placate yourself mentally with the following:

What an amazing, interesting, exciting season.

We follow Luton by one year during recent history. We go up next year.

Growing support.

Bigger budget next season due to play off windfall and bigger attendances, sponsorship etc.

The Championship is arguably more exciting than the Prem.

(Of course rather be in Prem but time to accept and move forward)

Does anyone else find it peculiar and this @its a buzzard loser returned after a 6 year absence just to respond to a post of mine? Since then, they have followed me round the forum mentioning me in threads I have no involvement in.

At first I was honoured to have yet another fanboy but I’m starting to wonder if it may in fact be an alternate account of another poster…

You're over-thinking this. Not an accusation thrown at you very often.
