I’m not sure about that one, IMO he’s in control of that and has caught it before he grounds it.

Sports rules just become over complicated. You take a catch, keep it off the ground for a few seconds then you can do what you want with it. Wasn’t the case there

Fair shouts on the catch (or not). Wasn't a hill I was going to die on but as they were showing it I called it a catch and assumed it would be given out. Still feel he had a level of control but ultimately I'm wrong seeing as the umpires gave it not out.

All this slating of ‘bazball’ is bizarre. As mentioned before, something like one win in 14 before Stokes/McCullum came in and 12 in 15 or 16 after, playing some exciting/fun cricket. We’ll probably lose this test and I’d imagine probably the ashes against a very good Australia team, with the top three batsmen in the world and a better attack.

All people have got to ask themselves is how many English lads would get in the Australia team (root, stokes and broad maybe…duckett at a massive push based on innings in this game) ? Even considering that they’ll probably only be two up because of our dropped catches, poor/unlucky spells of bowling when conditions were in our favour and a couple of individual horrific/brainless shots…not because of ‘bazball’

The same people in the media bitching about bazball probably complain about Southgate’s more cautious approach in football 🤷‍♂️

It's not about being cautious, it's about balance and playing the conditions, we were 187/1 in the first innings should have been looking for 450+ score, and completely imploded unnecessarily playing ridiculous attacking shots that were never on. We were then still in a decent position before Stokes wicket at 278/4 then lost the last 5 wickets for 46 runs.

We had the Aussies on the ropes not sure how they were going to get wickets then we just girft wrapped them the other 9.

Stokes ironically plays a lot of innings in normal test mode

Bit embarrassing really. Like sending Lyon out yesterday

Bairstow didn’t ground his bat - schoolboy error - Carey threw it when he was still in his crease

Spirit of the game broken hope stokes wins it and rips off his top

I think most of the professionals won’t agree - atherton said “dozy cricket” from Bairstow

The spirit of the game is more aimed at the constant barrage at Broads head

Agreed, we let them back in and I’ve said Root and Brooks batting was chaotic/brainless. My point is that’s nothing to do with Bazball, just poor play

Also agree that we were still in great position the next day when stokes was out, to a leading edge (not an aggressive shot) and Bairstow last remaining batsman to just a poor shot. Again, nothing to do with ‘bazball’

Cheating is breaking rules - that’s not
It's 100% out within the rules, there's no question of that whatsoever. And it's very poor from Bairstow to wander out of the crease like that

So its then down to the spirit of the game which is a pretty hard thing to define but ultimately its down to the Aussies, if they decide to appeal its going to be given out every time

Absolutely lit a spark under the crowd, and more ominously for Australia, Ben Stokes. We're not out of it yet.
