The threadbare squad in my eyes is partly due to a poorly recruited u23s. Aside from Eccles and Howley, (tavs when fit) nobody is near breaking into the 1st team squad. And haven't for ages. We've got about 15 players who aren't knocking on the door, what's the point of them?
That might be why we have changed our recruitment team.

Maybe, they did bring us gyok hamer and sheaf mind. Defo think we need better quality in the development set up as a whole

let’s how the next few weeks pan out.

it’s similar to last week where you have fans saying it’s only June. Now it’s first week of July with no new reinforcements. Robins has always been an advocate of doing business early. he will not be happy with how it’s going thus far.
Latibeaudiere is complete. however still playing for Jamaica, I would imagine they need to wait for him to return from international duty before announcing.
You’re confirming signings, that can’t be announced due to circumstances outside the clubs control, and at the same time bemoaning no new reinforcements. Just stick to the bit you’re pissed off about and stop trying to twist every little thing to suit your narrative. All you’re achieving is whipping Saddlebrains and Matt Smith into a frenzy.

All good here

we can’t keep playing catch-up. law of averages sooner or later it comes back to haunt us. How can we go from a top 6 finish and a playoff finalist to currently a team threadbare. no kit yet, potential pre season tour being cancelled and our main striker currently in a transfer saga which doesn’t look ending anytime soon.

currently we are playing catch-up again and it’s only so many miracles robins can produce.
Your proxy vendetta is so boring.

I don’t get how we can’t get free transfers when we’ve freed up about £60k off the weekly wage bill with who left.

Surely there are some frees out there worth grabbing

You still have to negotiate wages & fees with agents.

With agents fees being capped after this window it wouldn't surprise me if they're asking for bigger fees than usual, especially on free transfers.

Also wouldn't surprise me if agents are seeing that we're about to get serious money from the Gyok sale and think they can push the club for more money.

As Simon Jordan said "Agents are nasty scum. They're evil, divisive and pointless."

He’d say the same about unions as well. These players are ‘green’ and will be manipulated by both club and agent. They can at least squabble amongst themselves, away from the player.

Free transfers are not free of agents.

They try to get a much higher wage as there is no transfer fee to pay. As time goes on they lower their demands. They know what clubs are willing to pay.

And out of all the free agents most are after too much money or are not good enough.

Another point is why are they not contracted. Not seen as good enough for their last club?

Free transfers and free agents are the same thing. Players currently without a club.

the quality of the player will determine his ability to extract a higher salary and signing on bonus on the basis there is no transfer fee.

Maybe the fact we have accelerated through the leagues pretty rapidly will have exacerbated the issue. We are now expecting players to be upper end Championship level not League 1.

Fair point.

The fact we loan so many young players from the Premier League would in theory block their progress, however in reality when we loan our academy players out very few are really successful, which would also suggest a quality issue.

Surely we all knew this window was going to be really difficult and that we wouldn’t have a squad together for the first pre-season games or even the first game of the season?

If anything I thought it might be worse, never dreamed we’d keep hold of Hamer.
