Hamer (16 Viewers)

The ever reliable Teamtalk saying we have rebuffed Burnley's offer of McNally and Connor for Hamer...

Burnley again....Causing us problems again pre season. If we've turned them down they won't let us get McNally easily, but that's OK.
I'm starting to like the hard headed Doug King over transfers. We used to sell our crown jewels at the first sniff of interest.

Exactly, players come and go. If Hamer is unwilling to sign the best terms we can offer, then we have to extract the most value out of him.

He is good enough for the Premiership so it’s natural to want that progression. If we can get 2-4 good quality permanent signings out of his fee, it’s good value.
Think its horrendous losing Hamer, the team revolves around him.
If he goes, very likely sadly what makes you think we will get 2-4 good players in ?
Not feeling it at all .

Agree with this in the second half of last season. Before that we'd have said it hinged on O'Hare. MR adapts to who's available. I want Hamer here long term but I think MR would surprise us with how well we'd adjust to life without him.
Always personal opinion but I thought O Hare was never even close to Hamer in ability. I wish Burnley were after O Hare lol .
Thats not knocking O Hare, good player in one position but no composure at all.
He certaintly is nt going to replace Hamer

From that team talk: the players being Luke mcnally and Thomas

They are so far offering around £8million plus the players in question, but Coventry are holding out for a £15million transfer fee instead.

My take on that (assuming Gus won't sign) is although we might push for a bit more cash (as I don't know about Thomas) getting £8m plus 2 decent players is not bad business (but I suppose it begs the question, are McNally and Thomas worth £7m, if DK thinks we can get £15m for Gus? I would go for £12m plus McNally, though.

Watch the vid of all Vik's goals. Easy to forget how much went through O'Hare. He was much more consistent and added a lot more than Hamer until last season. Hamer last season was miles above the form he'd shown before that.

A matter of opinion , I agree, but from the first 5-6 games I saw Hamer play, I thought what a player he could be.
I ve oviously watched Cov for a very long time and his vison, touch stood out by a country mile. His rashness re bookings, sendings off ( not always fairly) was ironed out and O Hare is nt in the same ball park.
Lets hope O Hare comes back fit and well soon but he s not a Hamer .

This is a football club, players come players go. The team does not revolve around him and other than the last few months of the season, he has been a £5m player at best. Take the money, invest wisely, move on.

I think each offers something different from the other. Massively disagree with the statement that they're not "in the same ball park". Hamer's season just gone was better than any single season of O'Hare's, I'll give you that.

5m? For the best midfielder in the Championship? You must be on a wind up.

I wouldn't go this far. But he's certainly worth more than 5 million based on his second half to last season and how he turns up in the big moments.

Did you read the post? Clearly his form at the second half of the season has elevated him way beyond that now, but before then, £5mil is about right.
This is proven when he extended his contract a year ago with no fuss and no big clubs circling, no such chance now.

Seems to be more convoluted than I was told. Yunus Musah is signing for AC but Fulham were after him. They may now be in for Hamer seriously as their second choice. That makes more sense.
