Transfer Rumour Sam Gallagher (4 Viewers)

So weird how people keep putting him down as clueless. Why randomly hate the person lol
Because all he does is regurgitate shit rumours. If we signed everyplayer he linked us with we'd have a squad of 200 players.

And everytime he opens his mouth and mention us, it starts a thread on here with the usual suspects getting a hard on.

No thanks. And the only positive about that story is it's by Alan Nixon so is almost assuredly incorrect in many aspects, if not completely wrong. For a journo who hides his stories behind a Patreon paywall (which is strange in and of itself), he's wrong more times than he's right.

Rumours are rumours. Should never expect 100 percent hit rate. Shouldn't really expect anything over 30 really.
But Gallagher doesn't fit any of our player profiles.

Too old. (28 in 6 weeks)
Too slow
No chance of making a profit
Worse strike rate than what we already have.
Ridiculous valuation.

We need pace and mobility, Gallagher offers neither imo.

He was talking about match fitness, speed of thought, moving the ball at pace and felt our build up was too laboured. Which is a common problem at this stage of a pre season. He was not saying I need to sign someone with pace.
My bad. Although, I do think we need to sign a pacey striker. To go alongside Simms. I’d love to see someone who can get in behind and leave defences.

He’s a freelance journalist. He gets paid for his content. Patreon is a revenue stream for his content. Why is that strange ?

This is the way journalism is moving. Journalists build up a personal following on social media and then seek to monetise that … could be Patreon, could he TalkSPORT, could he Skysports …. They are all revenue streams …

No argument for general news journalists. However, Nixon is in the rumour/opinion business. I happily pay for CNN, Sky Sports News and others because I am getting verifiable fact. Paying someone for something that may happen or is based on a chat in a pub one Sunday lunchtime is ludicrous to me. Nixon even puts the label "Creating football stories" on his Patreon. Another negative sign in my eyes.

Can handle Pete O'Rourke and Fab Romano as their rumours do tend to spout truth. Others may argue that I'm wrong in that too.

@Deity, we've had this conv before about Nixon. Two sides of an opinion. Neither of us is likely to budge from our chosen side so let's leave it at that.

That name cropped up again in a conversation I had with someone, he’s a big unit standing over 6ft 5in. and suppose to be very pacy only about 19 so would be one more for the future, we need a partner now for Simms. loan perhaps ?

Sold.

It's often more effective to have that pace coming from behind the strikers and that could be what Sakamoto will bring. Hamer did this effectively at the end of last season when playing further forward and of course O'Hare does it.

If I was Sam Gallagher's agent and Blackburn want his reported high wages off the books with only Stoke showing an under-value interest... I'd leak a story to a journo saying the team in the division who have just sold their star striker for 20 million are also interested.
I was thinking exactly this. Same with Sharp.

Why are people on here so negative towards Godden ? He’s been and I hope will continue to be a great servant to us . He’s a poacher and can read the game and score goals . I think people are asking for something that realistically not out there .

I'm a fan of Godden and like Kelly, hope he gets to play for us in the Prem but as been said, his age and injury resistance are starting to count against him. If we have to lose him for 1/3 or 1/2 of the games in a season due to his body not being able to cope, that is a serious problem when we're pushing for the top table.

We also have to be wary about how he plays with Simms, who I presume is now our starting #9. Is Simms a knockdown forward or another poacher who is going to go for the same balls as Godden ? Don't think he's a straight Gyokeres replacemant so how does he work with others ? Does he play solo up front ?

This is a change of tactics from the last 2 seasons. There's a lot of unanswered questions and that creates discord among fans.

And remember, on here, Kelly got the same level of abuse last season yet he fully justified his position in the last month up to Wembley.

Pace is useful anywhere on the pitch at this level, as long as it is supported with a good first touch and awareness.

Guessing Robins identified he wanted a striker of this type, approached Blackburn asking a price and spat out his coffee upon hearing 5 million. No one is buying him for that but they get desperate to sell I guess this could come back up with a much lower asking price.
Shoe is on the other foot this season, have to feel a bit sorry for Hyam really. Fryingpan and fire spring to mind.

They haven’t got a pot to piss in, they made the players buy their own tickets to get back from pre-season in Austria and agents are chasing them for unpaid, overdue fees.

It's out of order because all they care about is hits. As long as they get enough on line traffic to their site they get paid. There's zero responsibility to be honest or even slightly truthful.

Reporters like Allan Nixon know what we're in the market for (like everyone else does) and then just looks for defenders and strikers with a year or less left on their contract, and all of a sudden there's a rumour generated.

Honestly he hasn't even got the intelligence to look at our recent player profiles, that's how ridiculous names like Sharp and Gallagher can get banded around.
Unfortunately, some people on here just fall for it every time.

In future, if the source is Allan Nixon, can we please just treat it as BS.

Thought Gallagher was the best player on the pitch when we drew at Ewood last season. Great header too for their goal.
Think we need pace around Simms and Godden though so not convinced he would be a good fit.
