To be fair to hamer he has not said anything
No - but Robins has said he had made a decision on the contract offer.
If a decision has been made, and we haven't announced that he has signed it, his decision is (obviously) that he isn't signing it.
So he is either forced to stay (no decent/acceptable offers come in) and run his contract down (alluded to by Robins) or we do accept a lowball offer (possibly from Feyenoord!? - or a yet to be decided club) and Gus gets his (possible) wish. (Trying to interpret Robins words)

Agreed. I'm starting to lose sympathy for him. It reminds me of when we were getting teasers from bright all summer that he was signing and then he went and signed for wigan.

Hopefully this all ends amicably. If he stays then great, if he doesn’t and we sell, then fine. We move on and Gus is consigned to the sky history books.

He's outgrown the club in truth. Other clubs would be willing to pay him way more than us in truth. Similar to Gyokeres. In a rational world we shouldn't stand a chance of keeping him. I thought Liam Walsh would be irreplaceable for us, and we replaced him with Hamer. The club will be prepared for life after Hamer and his sale could secure four or five quality players. We're in a good position either way. We have developed a player to the point where he has a value of £10m+. Good problems to have.

If he’s homesick then moving to Lesta or Burnley won’t make the blindest bit of difference. You would then need a Dutch club to offer an amount they either can’t or won’t spend. Someone close to him needs to have a word or at least see what could be done to improve his access to his lad.

If he’s had agents from other clubs offering him double money, but the clubs are offering us derisory amounts, we can’t accept them as they are but can try to drive it up. Time would be running out to replace him and to be honest trying to cover both him and Gyo leaving is too tall an order for one window. Still, it’s better than letting him go for nothing next summer.

Either way this is a lot harder to accept than Gyo’s sale.

I can remember petitions being set up in the 70s to "save our spider" Chris Catlin.
People actually standing around board gate high st ect with clip boards asking people to sign asking city not to sell him.
He went city went on . Not what we wanted. But we got better players.
I love gus and would love him to stay if only a one season extention.
But if his head or heart has been turned ........ Good luck don't let the door hit your arse on the way out!

He’s going back home

I genuinely don’t think theirs a side in Holland that’ll pay north of £8M for him. He’s worth that all day in the current market even with a year on his contract and we’ve seen Doug won’t take a low ball offer with the Vik move.

Ajax could afford him easily but do they need him? PSV have just had £5M off PSG for Simons that they could look to reinvest. But if it’s Feyenoord he wants to go back to they haven’t paid >€8M for a player in the last 5 years so can’t see that coming to fruition either.

Sigh really thought Hamer was different to Gyokeres in that he was here for the long term project. Oh well. Lets move him on with little fuss and fanfare.

You know the real story about Gus? We were only going to keep him at Coventry for 18months max before selling him. It’s a miracle he’s stayed this long with us.

I'd suggest he stayed longer than 18 months as he actually hadn't accrued much value after the first season.

He did say publicly earlier in the year he would love to play for them again at some point. It’s whether they can afford him.

I’m just not having this. How does whoever told you all of a sudden know this, a few hours after Robins interview. Hamer has probably been back in Cov an hour and he’s told the world and sundry his plans. Don’t think so.

But it is for us. We’re not a charity and Gus wanting to go to Holland has to fit with a price we’re willing to accept now OR he sucks up a year of living away from his (ex?) wife and kid and moves there for free at the end of his contract.

If he does the latter and smashes the next 12 months with us then goes back home I’m not arsed, he goes with my thanks of being a great player for us. But if he fucks off to one of the teams that came down to the Champ that can pay him £30k a week I’ll be fucking furious with the wee Brazilian.

If he goes to another club in the UK then I’d be disappointed in him as a person as I’ve reliable told he wants to go to Holland due being away from his son.
