robins open letter to the fans (2 Viewers)

i dont care, its just my view that the PR division of the club told Robins to write a letter to the fans and he didn't do it off his own back. I'm allowed an opinion am i not?

Of course. But you do seem to care that others don't feel its all down to pr. Don't see what it matters. Robins has been saying all the right things, its not just this.

I would be very suprised if Robins wrote that himself. I'll wait and see how the team performs in the next 10/15 games before i judge him. I don't understand the messiah status he already seems to have with some of our fans.

That's probably because its not messiah status, just people trying to be positive.

Even though I back Robins 100%, just about every manager who has come in has 'said all the right things'....especially Boothroyd. Anyone can say the right things, it is proving it on the pitch that matters, not coming out with the stuff the fans want to hear.

I think it may be Robins' work. It's good PR, and the PR department has been pretty inept up to now; why would they suddenly be able to come up with a good idea?

Exactly. It is the sum of all the parts.

Would be rather surprised if this wasn't all Robbins' own work.

I wonder if she still works there as a secretary?

Apparently a woman who Ashley cole was doing who was a secretary at CCFC under Thorn and KD.

IMO, both the marketing & PR departments have massively improved over the last year!
I'll admit that with KD, Iggy Oggy and Brody out of the picture there are far fewer PR disasters now.

My only worry about Robins is will he be given enough time. Fans can easily turn nasty and board members can easily get restless. Things rarely work for a manager recently appointed. He needs time and plenty off it. Clubs don't turn things round in a season or two. It's took much longer.

Lets see how he does AS A MANAGER before we hail him as The Messiah, eh? Man, I have never known a population so gleefully gobble up spin like CCFC fans! That's just like a standard programme column that, isn't it? There's nowt special in it.

I know we're starving for something positive, but chill!

Don't think I've ever agreed with you more! Where's that Ron Atkinson bloke, he spoke a good game..Aidy spoke a good game...Dowie spoke..well, a different language, actually...

THAT is precisely the opposite of the mentality/attitude he's eluding to in the comments about Leeds fans. No matter what happens if we're going to be the 12th man we MUST stay together AS ONE & get behind the team...& Mark Robins. I see his strategy as a "hearts & minds" approach. He believes WE can make a difference. He wants it to be a positive/constructive difference. Not a negative/sarcastic/destructive one.

Well said!!! I was going to respond to him, but just be bothered with his negative narrow view!!!

Good stuff eh?! Very excited about this season now, and about the long term future.

Sorry for not clapping when we get beat 6-1 - if you can construe that as negative/destructive then fine. I don't care if we lose to the Harlem Globetrotters, any 6-1 defeat is unacceptable no matter whether heads dropped or not, or what kind of football we played.

Sticks & Carrots...that's what motivation is all about. His messages suggest he's saying to US - get behind the team on match-days. The messages to the team appear to be -get behind me & the club & the City itself & start to play with feeling, like it means as much to you as it does the fans. Get to know the people that feel so let down (us) by the current situation. If you do - brilliant, if you don't I shall have no hesitation in wielding my big stick & you'll be outta here!

I agree they say the right things, but Robins seems to me somewhat more convincing. We should give him the chance to work some magic, & if we don't he'll not be endeared to us or the club & won't bat an eyelid about leaving when someone else comes in for him. I'd rather he felt like Martinez does about Wigan - I want to be here!

I agree...it probably came from the PR team...but Robins has come in & in the first week had meetings with all & sundry & painted a picture of his vision for the club & the PR team have gone back & suggested we, the fans, would appreciate something like this. And he's agreed that it's a good thing & they or he drafted it & it's finally agreed upon the wording & then it's sent out. Happens in ALL good management teams. And I'm pleased that I'm getting the feeling that most of us seem to be receiving it positively.

Words are cheap - I seem to remember an open letter from Onye Igwe that was full of platitudes and promises - there is no criticising the sentiment and maybe he did write it but I will be happier with actions, starting with dropping Brown and seeing a team playing decent winning football.

There's just no pleasing some people but you are entitled to your opinion. The point was, we have not seen the team keep their heads up for ages and keep playing football. It showed because we eventually got a goal back, only one, but the old city would have mentally run for the dressing room 30 mins earlier.

WTF, we got beat 6-1 !!!!

Not an unlucky 2-1 defeat where we had a stonewall peno turned down and they got a load offside goal, we got totally stuffed - I don't care if our heads didnt' drop, fact is we conceded 6 goals to a team agaisnt whom we used to be relatively competitive. I didn't boo, far from it, but I will not applaud a 6-1 defeat.

Dowie and Boothroyd were quite good at saying the right things. Adams, Coleman, and the bumbling Thorn most certainly weren't-hard to knock a manager for trying to be uplifting in my view; though I agree that words are cheap at the moment, whilst points are priceless.

You clearly have issues with people who are capable of thinking for themselves rather than swallowing any old populist bullshit. Yes, I doubt the integrity of Lynch's source, as it only ever gives a particularly biased perspective. We don't know what agenda his source has.

I'm not asking anyone to "listen to me"-why do you have such a sad obsession with my opinions? It's a forum, I post here sometimes, get over it. And I notice you don't interact with me when we share a view on something? Very one-eyed. I know nothing about players? Yeah, alright, whatever...:jerkit:

You like to doubt the info he gives although I can't remember him being wrong at all. Dors it matter why his source gives info as long as it is correct?

Forming an affinity with the fans is a smart move.....now we will already be giving him mpre games before we moan so much!
But he talks the talk well and hope he can walk the walk. Like his opinions though and his plans on the whole. For once there is someone at the helm with 'positivity' ;)

I didn't see this apparent upturn in spirit at the Carlisle game - on the contrary the guys were utterly pathetic (barring McGoldrick).

Anyone who sees a 6-1 drubbing as even acceptable yet alone a good performance either doesn't understand or doesn't care about football!

If you are happy at 6-1 drubbings you can get them week in week out at virtually any council park throughout the country - for free!

As professionals, I expect as an absolute minimum that they play for 90 minutes - a bare minimum!

I cannot remember 1 single game all season where the guys have played a full 90 minutes.

I am sick and tired of listening to the typical yadda yadda of about 5-10 people going on how we have turned a corner and that mr is definitely ther right man - based on what? He has a drubbing, one lucky win, an awful loss and a pathetic draw! These same people were calling for Shaw's head with the same record!

I have yet to see any encouraging signs from MR and the gain against MK Dons only enforces that opinion. Worse he started making excuses for the guys in his interview. Remember on his job interview he claimed there was not only quality throughout the squad, but he had analysed the team for weeks beforehand.

Indeed - he was so inspired by the depth of quality that he immediately brought in 4 players! Forgive me, but that implies that indeed their is NOT a depth of talent in the squad!

I just have a vision of this going horribly wrong and in a very quick time frame.

There is no question that anything less than not just a win but a convincing win against bournemouth is essential. Anything less and the fans will be perfectly valid in raising questions about MR.

I for one thought all of the final 3 were wrong, and nothing in the meantime has shown me any different!

There is a reason no one picked mr up last season!
