They did it with no money, just their strong beliefs.
Well, they did have the Romanians, Hagi and Popuscu. Although the "regarded as rubbish in Brazil" Taffarel got M.O.M. Possibly the peak of "the trouble with the Arsenal is, they always try to walk the ball in" as it was on penalties after a 0-0.

McNally hasn't been for sale and is under contract for a number of years. We knocked the door and got told to go away.

I do wonder what Burnley's intentions with McNally are. He's only 23 so plenty of potential, but if they have no intention of playing him then surely they'll want to cash in at some point. I'd of thought this is a good time after a great season, wouldn't want him to lose form or pick up an injury.

They're premier league now, so the 3 or 4 million they'd get from a championship side is peanuts to them now. They may want to keep him as back up, or get a loan fee for him as he continues to develop elsewhere.

They might well get relegated and McNally might well suit them next season.

No they are developing him and in no rush to cash in. No club frets about players picking up injuries - it's part and parcel of the game. Do you leave the house every morning and worry about all the possibilities you might encounter?

All signings are risks, look round the Premiership where multi-million transfers are kicking their heals but hoovering up mega money, also look at the state Everton are in as an example, can’t give some of their so-called stars away, some they have.

Having to pinch myself this preseason . Being able to sign exciting players as well as young , ambitious talent makes for a very exciting season ahead

You need therapy then and have no right, in future to criticise young men and their playing ability whilst trying to learn their trade and mature as adults

What I actually am impressed by is the modest way in which all this is being done.

When Sisu took over, and they had that brief spell of buying players (probably totalled no more than £4m), Ray Ranson as their mouthpiece was shouting from the rooftops as to how benevolent they were.

And even the Robinson/Elliott era, when they had the last throw of the dice with "Operation Premiership" were ranting about how wonderful they were.

Now apart from Doug's brother, the club and all those connected with it are just going about their business as though this is all normal and how it should be

Would love to know what research we have done on this guy. Looks so raw and cumbersome on the clips of him. The comments on him don't exactly fill me with confidence. If we were spending £2m on him I'd could maybe see it.

Mind you I thought Gyokeres was an absolute carthorse on first viewings.

Weird signing this if it happens. Seems a fuck ton of money for not a great player.

He looked so leggy and off balance. I remember thinking the defenders don't have a clue where he's going because he doesn't. But you could see the underlying raw skill. Similar with this chap.
