Lost the squad thread so this is where its at .. no point putting howley there etc because he isn't really featuring is he ..

We probably need 3 players at most after wright and the squad will be Much stronger than last season

We need one more defender and still think we need one more midfielder and one more striker

Judging from @Saddlebrains comments on the Dragus thread… it seems like we’re after another striker permanently.

Correct me if misquoting you Saddlebrains, but did your source say something like ‘you should see who we’re after’ shortly before Wright news broke.

Which suggests to me we were trying to sign Wright and Dragus simultaneously. Is that a fair summary?

You are correct mate

From what I understand, after Wright MR wants another striker on loan, and a permanent CB

Outgoings wise all quiet on Gus, he can only see Moore or Wilson being sold

I doubt that especially against Leicester I reckon MvE will cement that position down and become a main stay.
Not sure where Sakamoto will fit in comfortable on either wing and central.
I think it will be Sakamoto and maybe a midfield of Hamer, Sheaf and Eccles to help him out defensively.

MvE is 100% going to hold down that position, just not sure he'll be thrown straight in. He hadn't trained for a week until yesterday.

Tbf Dragus wasn't a loan so there's nothing suggesting its specifically a loan he's after.

No. He was scouted in depth of course, but wasnt available at a price MR thought acceptable. He then became available at a price MR does deem acceptale. Also when contacted apparently Wright was very receptive, Dragus on the other hand very 'meh'
What I mean is, we were going to sign both anyway from the looks of it.

No, not until Wright became available for less than 8 Million is all I'm told. Could be wrong. Would also explain why the media (or may have been MR ) said they had moved onto other targets that had became available

Dragus hasn't heard about the Romanian takeaway near the Wheatsheaf

My point is supposing that Dragus hadn’t been a knob he’d be getting unveiled alongside Wright.

Been in some tournament hasn't he?

Any idea if there was already a discussion about Wright and then they lowered their asking price or were they hawking him out and we jumped in, or what?

Is there enough left for his permanent CB though

I would think so, could potentially be that the 2.5 or whatever we were going to throw at Dragus can now go onto a perm centre half.

As @Brighton Sky Blue says, we must have been looking at 2 perm strikers with Dragus and Wright, Dragus turns out to be a Prick, Wright is keen and at the right price, so we change tack and Lob the money at a perm CB and loan another in with Wright rather than the other way round

That's just me musing though no info given to me for anything like that

If he gets what he wants, it would be a perfect window. The squad was threadbare and for the club to manage to plug all the gaps, is seriously impressive.

I can't get my head around we're going to have a strikeforce that we've spent over £11mil on. 🤯

If Hamer signs a new deal though.

If we are to spend on another permanent I agree strongly it should be at CB

If we’re signing another CB, surely it’s got to be someone with a bit more experience. To step in for Fadz longer term. Lati, Thomas and Binks are all quite young.

If we sign a third choice striker permanently then surely that’s it for Godden?

I’d be surprised if we don’t strengthen the midfield area at all…

HJe has with Tats in the CAM role

CM is fine

Sheaf and Hamer are the best CM pairing in this league. Allen Kelly and Eccles are good enough cover
