CCFC Finance Director
Repeatedly we have been assured that there is a sense of direction and a plan at CCFC. That the men in charge know what they are doing ............
thoughts ......
1) You allow a man to build a squad (whether i think he was good enough or not is not really relevant). You tell all and sundry that he is the man to do it. Then 3 games in having brought in 9 players you sack him. It just does not make financial sense in some ways, yes it might in some but not from a squad cost point of view. What TF and SW allowed to happen is that we are saddled with a big squad, of similar lightweight in general, players. Worse still we are locked into contractual agreements. It is not as if TF or SW are newcomers to football they were in charge at Charlton, so no excuses really. SW is director of football surely he has input not only into the contracts but also who gets a contract? financial ineptitude
2) lots of player movements ......... really not surprised..... it is what happened at Charlton under the dynamic duo. BUT it costs, throwing mud at a wall to see if anything sticks is not going to be cheap (and that is the impression you could get of our transfer policy........ mud on the wall). Surely targets are more specific than that ? More financial pressure is the result
3) We have no money, we cant afford more than the average rent ......... but we can bring in another couple of players so that we have by far the biggest senior squad in the division? Does that sound like a good logic to present to ACL, Charity or Council? Does that sound like a good way of getting some much needed financial co operation (not confrontation) from their business partners ?
4) We transfer list players signed in July on 3 year contracts in a period when there is no transfer market ...... hardly a sign of a well researched and needed purchase in the first place, MR cant help the timing of his appointment, but where was the directors assessment in the first place. For starters we had a lot of central defenders so why approve one that was a gamble, yes i know he hasnt cost a lot but we havent got a lot in the first place so any sum is significant.
5) It is all AT's fault........ we have heard both TF and SW say as much.... "we backed him gave him what he wanted". Well i am sure my employees want padded sofa chairs and waiter service in my office but they have bob hope and no hope of getting them! Surely there had to be a proper business case to each signing, a proper assessment of that players abilities, surely they didnt just rely on AT's say so ....... surely? Dont forget SW is director of football (kind of implies knowledge of players etc) and TF is not new to this. Not sure they can blame it all on AT. Given what they already knew surely the dynamic duo were more involved?
6) so it continues ...... money is wasted hand over fist at CCFC and we continue to make losses, struggle in the division. Things are supposed to be getting better..... but it is still the same old mistakes, still the smoke & mirrors, still the feeling of stumbling from one crisis to another ........ still the feeling of what the hell is going on
7) we all know we are lacking leadership, pace and strength in the squad....... yet it has not been addressed. Instead we have brought in players of a similar ilk that appear to lack the qualities needed. So more money to be spent to obtain the solutions we all know are necessary and to get rid of contracted surplus players from a 36 man squad. More wasted money
Is it any wonder ACL, the Charity, the council look at CCFC and wonder can the club be trusted to get its finances right............. SISU also probably wonder about how the finances at the club are operated too,.......... I would.......... I do!
