The costs are not just for one game either. Over a 23 home game season, you'd pay £50-ish total to get a bottle of cola at each game in the CBS, compared to £25 from Tescos ? Double or treble that if you take kids. That makes a big difference as to how many games you can budget to attend.

So no doubt, fans will try and avail themselves of cheaper F&B options than face the raised prices within the CBS.

You are of course right. It is a 2 way street.

But not every business is owned by a multi national corporate.

As I said at the outset I have zero issue with anyone on a super tight budget finding cunning ways to help their kids enjoy the football cost effectively.

Where I do have an issue is where people who can afford to pay the premium still cheat the system.

I want a stadium with great facilities and great concessions which everyone can enjoy. Therefore I know I have to help by paying my way.

And for you the way to get great concessions isn’t to buy them when they’re great, but to pay through the nose for sub par quality and service because you’re trapped there? Not to offer something people want? And then, what? Just hope for them to make things better out of the goodness of their heart.

I have no problem with a bunch of lads paying an arm and a leg to have a few warm pints and a cardboard burger. I do have a problem forcing families and others who may need food or drink during a two hour window to partake.

It's about time all major entertainment venues are required by law to provide for this. The environmental impact of plastic water bottles is a disgrace and forcing people to buy bottled water at ridiculous cost when tap water is free is plain wrong. But hey we have a Government that doesn't care about the environment, and most corporates only care about profits, so it's going to be a long time coming.

I just can’t imagine that the income difference would be that big anyway. People who buy beers would still buy beers, probably the same with burger and pies. I doubt huge amount of extra sweets are sold. I’ll continue to sneak a bottle of water in cos I’m a rebel like that

Agree with the comments above and the cinema* example. If you rip people off in terms of price and/or quality people won’t buy. Get the price point and quality right and sort the queues and people will probably grab more stuff in the ground

*I’ve taken sweets and drink into the cinema forever. Even took a packed lunch in on a solo visit

Any licensed venue in England is already required to provide water free of charge

Doh, bet you do t have to budget? its discretionary of course, but for some, it would be the more enjoyable if the costs were reasonable.

For others who don’t worry about finances, maybe spend a bit more when you are there?

At Edgbaston they encourage you to take a reusable bottle and having filling points all round the ground. Works pretty well. Was at Wembley Arena yesterday and they have the same there, although you couldn't take a bottle in but the water points all had a well stocked supply of paper cups.

I totally get the point.

A business has a captive audience for 3 hours or so 25 times (give or take) a season - of course they will want to maximise income by stopping people taking in their own food / drink etc.

I object to paying stadium prices so I simply go without for the time that I am in the stadium bowl. Same for many I would guess - nobody forces you to buy food or drink and most can go a couple of hours without ( I use the word most as I fully appreciate medical reasons etc)

Granted I don’t have children so cannot understand when taking kids to the game and managing their requirements.

Got sick of my kids kicking the water bottle over with no bottle top. I just take my own smart water bottle top now.

I'm pretty sure the cheapest portion of chips you can get is £5.60.

That's price gouging, plain and simple. I'll sneak in as much as I can until they change things.

No healthy snacks for kids anywhere as far as I can tell and 20 mins queue for a bag of sweets.

Have a decent food offering for kids. Install some card-only vending machines. Not hard FFS.
