Admit it - we looked far better when Allen was on the field and Palmer off it

100%. Always in space ready to receive the ball. Keeps it simple. Moves the ball, (actually to our players) Energy and aggression. Can’t believe I’m saying it but having him back is massive for us.

This is an overreaction based on 30 minutes and I don’t entirely mean it, but £4.5mil for Kitching? He is not the comfortable ball playing CB I expected, he looked ponderous.
Given the price we paid, his body shape and similiarity in looks, I reckon he's going to get a lot of Harry Maguire comparisons.

I think on the balance of the season so far, and from what I've managed to catch these are the main 3 positives:

Godden is in the form of his life and must start every game.
Sakamoto provides us with our most individual moments of brilliance and creativity, we need to find a way to utilise him more.
Ayari, if anyone, is going to be what becomes our creativity to replace Hamer, he needs minutes by hook or crook.

Robins needs to work out a plan before West Brom to play to all these players strengths. I don't care how much players cost, we need to look on performance. If that means a change in formation so be it.

Hopefully move ain't out long

Ayari looked good

Palmer terrible again.

Saka looked bright.

No creativity. Be interesting to see what robins says

Lots of managers thrive out there with a limited budget. It forces them to be careful and husband resources. Moyes was good example, so was John Bond years ago.

But give them money and they pork it large.

Just a sense that the club spent money because it had money, rather than spend it carefully
The key issue here is that we got a whole new recruitment team just as we got our biggest cash injection in decades.

I can’t be the only one with the suspicion that Chris Badlan might have handled this summer better than Dean Austin has.

For the money spent on wright and simms I have to say they are dreadful. Don’t give me their young and need to bed in like gyokeres had to either.

At this moment in time I’d have that 50p that Robins wouldn’t have touched that pair if could turn back three months.

That was very sobering, favourites need dropping, Fadz looked sadly very exposed, Palmer , Kelly, Eccles, awful, nothing upfront really, yes Godden scored but very ordinary. Saka looked OK, we are desperate for something creative and different, someone tell me what Bidwell did wrong...Kong hard look Robins because Cardiff were vert fucking ordinary, good sides will destroy us.

We looked ponderous. Like England against Ukraine. Lots of possession but no incision. Cov just look better when they attack at speed.
Not convinced by Ayari but clearly, I am in a minority.
Oh! I pine for the sensible SISU spending of yore that delivered O’Hare, Gyokeres and Hamer. Instead of blowing £30 million on mediocrity

No energy/intensity from the start until subs came on which is worrying. I’ll always give some leeway on things being a bit disjointed after all the changes but that’s unacceptable.

I think it's time to address the 2 elephants in the room ..

The inability to sign a midfielder is a costly one , and haji wright looks totally lost In this league
Wright was abysmal today. Ignore his price tag, he can't control that, but given he's actually scored goals in Turkey, you have to ask how as it stands.

You missed off the third elephant...

The defence looks incredibly vulnerable, Fadz in particular.

He is in the ethos of a robins team. Let’s just hope o hare is back soon as well

Sakamoto gives defenders a right headache as he goes both ways, need to find a system to get him in

Not going to judge Kitching tonight as it’s first game and it was a horrible night

thought Kelly had a decent game doing what Kelly does

Palmer shocking , Wright poor. Joel looks an absolute steel on a free transfer.
