Hope he isn't the next Hilssner. Felt a strange signing when we made it. Seems to be technically a good player but struggle to see where he plays in our current system. Reminds me a bit of Jodi Jones who similarly didn't fit the current formation.

I think he'd be best in a wide role behind a lone striker in a 4-2-3-1 similar to how Jacob Murphy played in the system under Mowbray. Problem with that is that I'm not convinced any of the strikers could play the lone front man.

Saw him in one of the pre-season games and he didn't look very convincing when defending in that wing back role.
Robins even admitted last night he's more of an attacking player but when was the last time we even played with wingers?

He’s not going to be here long I suspect

Robins doesn’t seem at all impressed from his comments. He’s never a wing back and seems left footed so a RWB is nonsense

Why sign him?

I think he looks like quite a talented player, but just don't know where he fits in the team.
Once O'Hare is back and fully fit, he's not going to get a game in that attacking midfield position either unless we go to a 3-4-3

He can play alongside O’Hare or more likely be his understudy. But that’s where he needs to be playing.

I agree he's not a wing back , and suggested I believe earlier in the thread that I wasn't sure why we'd signed him

At the moment it appears to be a bit of a weird one , but hey atleast he's got a song .

Be great if we ever went 4231 though wouldn't he 😂

Yet his team scouted him and signed him.

Id have much rather see Saka in the middle and taken palmer off last night at half time. But instead Robins kept palmer on nearly all game

It was unfortunate that when we at last dragged Palmer and Wright off the pitch and got Allen and Simms on we then conceded - we’d probably have drawn without that as we started to gain control

The ball started sticking up front once Simms came on, and Allen was making those clever runs. We looked more fluid for sure.
As for Sakamoto - I thought he was great at Swansea in the AM role, but they can bring him on as a attacking WB when we are chasing the game. Can't understand Robin's comments to be honest. We immediately looked more dangerous when he came on.
I hope they can play Ayari or even Palmer a bit deeper to allow Sakamoto and O'Hare to play together

The bloke next to me in all seriousness said 'he's probably thinking he'd be better off in a sweatshop making our shirts'.
Similar. Couple of blokes in front of me kept calling him "the chinky". We really do have some cunts supporting us.

he's rubbish.

can't play as a wingback as he can't defend

also don't understand the clamour to play him as a number 10. He cant pass for toffee.

His one 'trick' of chopping it and running the other way can only be done when he is playing as a winger. That isn't where he'd be as a number 10

Play a 4-2-3-1 which is what Robins has used previously.

If you've got Palmer, O'Hare, Sakamoto, Ayari and Allen, you may as well use 3 of them behind a striker.

That’s because he is a winger, all these numbers now in football nowadays 4,8,10 etc. but he is a winger, outside right or left, in old money a winger.

He just doesn't fit into the diamond shape or whatever its called. Fortunately Im too old to have played in it, but i watched my son a few times and by half time he was knackered being expected to track back to play as a full back and also get up the field in an advanced position as a winger. Imagine Stanly Mathews being told... 'oh stan you'l be playing as a full back this week as well as a winger'. 442 would suit us with a sweeper and wide midfielders. .

I'd argue he's got the best cross/delivery in the squad currently. He put some very good balls into the box in the last 15 mins or so.

Bit harsh calling him a one trick pony too. Especially when his "one trick" always appears to beat his man and results in a ball into the mixer.

Not sure what system we’d be able to play but Sakamoto wide right and from what I’ve seen so far and Highlights wright looks more comfortable wide on the left. Maybe the old fashioned 4-4-2 but it’s not very likely

If Robins made a mistake in bringing him in and is just going to mess the lad about and bad mouth him then just let him go.
Personally I think he has talent, athleticism and is a gutsy committed player. He should be an asset if you just play him as an attacking player.

I’m not having him as a Robins signing

Completely agree. Will be very disappointed if we turn him into a Japanese Isaac Osbourne
