Things that annoy you (69 Viewers)

To answer your specific question, one answer is the workplace exposure limit, above which you must not allow anyone to be exposed (while at work). This value for formaldehyde is 2 parts per million. That said, this also takes into account dilution in room atmospheres, etc., not drawing it directly into your lungs, so i suspect the harmful level in the respiratory tract is considerably lower than 2ppm.

Further to this, the article cited by @Brighton Sky Blue includes the sentence "We show that, within the tested e-cigarette brands, thermal decomposition of flavoring compounds dominates formation of aldehydes during vaping, producing levels that exceed occupational safety standards."
If your employer would be prosecuted for exposing you to such levels, why on earth would you choose to inhale it directly into your lungs?
Apologies, just seen this (was in Cardiff last night and must have scrolled down to latest).

The discussion didn't start out about formaldehyde, it started about the health benefits of vaping Vs smoking. It's about the fact that @Brighton Sky Blue asserted that

I can post stuff about formaldehyde levels in stuff (Vapes Vs fags), but that's not really the point...

The overall point I'm trying to make is that smoking is much more of a health hazard than vaping.

@Brighton Sky Blue doesn't agree, but won't provide peer reviewed evidence to the contrary.

Read the papers and go into the technical details. My point was I wouldn't want the contents of either in my lungs.

Being patronised on the subject by someone who doesn't know what formaldehyde is and just cites the NHS information page is funnily enough a 'thing that annoys me'.
And where would you suggest I go for matters pertaining to my health?

Please share the links, or should I dO mY oWn rEseaRcH?

I can confirm that being in Cardiff can be worse for you than smoking.

Friends/me…is this me or them?

Im coming back for the Norwich game. On this occasion I’m being joined by mates, neither of whom have been to Cov before…it works out well as it’s equidistant to where they now live.

I’ve bought them tickets, told them I might be staying 2 nights (to see my Cov mates) and showed them the premier inn earlsdon as a potential hotel to stay, it’s where I usually stay.

Anyway, one of them has gone ahead and booked a room at the Britannia…cos it’s cheaper. Fair enough but some consultation with the other bloke and me might’ve been nice first right?
Now I’ll have to either stay 2 nights in the Britannia (which I’ve heard is bad) or figure out shifting around hotels.
They don’t know where anything is in Cov either but that hasn’t stopped them!

It’s them right?

If he’s booked the Britannia then it’s entirely on him. Does he have free cancellation?

What irritates me with these posts is being spoken to like some conspiracy theorist crank when you have actually been given some peer reviewed evidence to justify why I said what I did. Particularly when I was defending vaccines more vigorously than most on here during the pandemic.

For someone like me who has never smoked or vaped I’ll take a big hit to my health if I started either.

Just leave it mate - you've hurt his ego because he vapes and it's still very bad for your health so he's clinging onto some semantics in a sentence rather than accept he's still damaging his health

Can we just agree that vaping is bad, but not as bad as smoking and leave it there!?

The way message boards mean conversations that die a death re-start tube and again

Irl someone doesn't come into a pub and start shouting a view about something you were talking about the previous week...

Or do they...?

Am I missing something?

It’s hardly miles away from each other and assuming you all have phones with messaging services and Google Maps?

I’d delight in my mate staying there so I could rip the piss out of him the whole weekend as he finds slices of ham in between his bed sheets (still the best review I’ve read of the place 😆).

Well, it’s just a bit of a pisser travelling back and forth to the game, to respective hotels, and back again.

You’re probably right. It’s me!

The happy hour bar is ok - so I’ve heard from a friend.

Tbf if you're out on the piss all day it will probably feel a lot better than it is when you stumble back in the early hours

Lazy bastards on a decent salary seemingly unable to do any more than a simple Find and Replace when trying to update some procurement documents.

HelloFresh delivered to my old house yesterday but I was in the office and went straight to the game afterwards so haven't had the chance to retrieve it yet. Heading round after work, just hoping they haven't thrown it away or decided to tuck in. Even if they've not touched it, the meat will be fucked by now probably.

Keep seeing videos on social media from people who work at Wilkos now it's closing. There are very strange.

Turns out there was another heart-warming option I hadn't considered. It was left on the doorstep and my old neighbours saw it was my name on the box, so they took it into their house assuming I'd be round to collect it. Not only that but they opened it and put the necessary bits in the fridge. Faith in humanity restored.

Just what I was assuming they should do.
