Probably just play Sakamoto as a winger and use Eccles in the 4. Or Dasila on the left, Sakamoto on the right and Bidwell cover as left back.
Sorry but not having a dig at you but as long as I have hole in my botty I’m not having Sakamoto is a winger or a wing back one bit. He doesn’t have the attributes to play wing back… can’t defend and hasn’t the pace. He’s a player that sits in the hole or plays as a second forward sitting deep.

He's said himself that he's a winger who is mainly good at attacking

I assume it’s healed over then …. He can clearly play as a winger. Are you new to the sport ?

He is a winger , he can't defend but he is the epitome of a winger

Sakamoto hasn’t got pace?

He’s the most obvious winger I’ve ever seen, plays all his best stuff with his back to the touchline

We’ve seen before with Robins when we have a troubled start he tends to shut up shop and take a few 0-0’s to set foundations, I fully expect this to be the case over the coming matches after the last couple. Expect a cagey 0-0 or perhaps pinch it 1-0 but a boring, ugly match.

Oggy just made a good point on cwr about Latibeaudiere playing wing back and Thomas in the right of a back three.

Most teams are moving away from 5 at the back and all the top teams are using the WM formation so don’t see why we can’t also (the box was introduced soon after Conte’s Chelsea won the league at a cantar with it)

I would like to see:

GK: Collins
RB: Lati
CB: Thomas
CB: Binks
LB: Da Silva
CDM: Kelly
CM: Ayari
CM: Allen
RW: Saka
ST: Godden
LW: Wright

Da Silva to invert making it a back 3 in possession.
Allows Kelly to sit and pass simply and allow the other two CM’s & Da Silva to force the issue.
Saka to stay wide and whip crosses in & Wright to use the space the run at FBs.
Can change to a deep 4-4-2 defensive shape (Ayari to move to the left & Wright to move inside ready to use his pace on the counter)

What we will get:

GK: Wilson
RWB: Lati
CB: Thomas
CB: Fadz
CB: Binks
LWB: Da Silva
CM: Eccles
CM: Kelly
CAM: Palmer
ST: Godden
ST: Wright

Not sure you can blame Sakamoto too much for the 2nd against Cardiff. If your wing back is back in the box competing for a cross something’s gone wrong with the system.

He's meant to be marking their left sided attacker and anyway even if you argue that he still has no idea where the man who becomes his man is and he completely misses what is a simple and basic run off the ball.

The RWB needs to be able to defend the area beyond and at the far post when the ball is crossed from the opposite side. It was a basic personal error that showed a lack of defensive ability.

Agreed. Wing backs are a combination of defensive and attack. If you can’t defend then your no wing back!

Honestly feel Robins has to ditch the wing back setup its not working

Footballs evolving away from it also

For me with the players we've got i think we need a kindof 4 2 3 1

GKWilson
RB Latibeaudiere
CB Thomas
CB Kitching
LB DaSilva
CDM Kelly
CM Allen
CAM Ayari
CAM Tats
CAM Palmer
ST Godden
