Yeah....but to be fair, We've had 5 days to leave......if we're all still here, we must be terrorists. Isn't that right @Kizz
Never said that, I just said they had 5 days to leave, if they really wanted to survive and remove the risk they can join the other 600,000 people that went south.

Okay, heres a question for those that are in total support of the Israeli actions.

Do they have a complete carte blanche here in your eyes, or would there be anything that was a step too far?

Just a genuine question. Not trying to provoke, or catch anyone out. I just wonder if you would find anything and everything acceptable if it meant getting rid of Hamas?

No lines to be drawn at all?

Well I didn't - I called the Islam religion that - lovely attempt at deflection from a nonsense statement by SBT though

Interestingly many people label the Christian and Catholic religion that as well and in fact someone put an image of Jesus with a cigarette in his had on here the other day

Just imagine if........
Was a extreme religion some 500 years ago

Once hamas are gone there will be another then another then another, that's the Muslim religion, Islam is one of the greatest threats to humanity.

However once hamas are gone from the gaza strip maybe just maybe they will live in peace for a little while.

The thing I find very strange about this is that it is a Jewish state - the only Jewish state - and there seems an awful lot of focus on Israel

Then of course there is the rather boring accusations of being anti Muslim blah blah

But there are 11 million Muslims who are receiving appalling abuse including 1 million in detention camps in a certain other country. When I called this genocide and asked why nothing was done I was lectured it was not genocide at all. The UN says its crimes against Humanity.

I find this very odd.

How do you propose the newborn babies or patients with life threatening illnesses & injuries make they way through a war zone, with no water, food or medicine whilst dodging the constant carpet-bombing?

Then hamas shouldn't have dug up the water pipes to make missiles, they like bragging about that.

Plus there is water and electric in the South. You're making out like they have to walk.

Personally, I do think there a large majority of Muslims that are peaceful and law-abiding.

I used to work with a Muslim and he used to be in the British army and one of my best friends is a Muslim and they are one of the nicest people you could ever wish to meet.

It's where you get the extremism and strict adherence to scriptures that problems arise.

I could never bring myself to support Hamas, or Hezbollah, or ISIS, or the Taliban etc. They are stuck rigidly in an ancient past of religious books written by men, for men.

There are so many Islamic regimes that I don't like, but at the same time I have met so many lovely Muslims over the years.

That's not what I asked though. Do you think it is acceptable for Israel to use any means at all in order to reach their goal?

Why then does no one raise the issue of the persecution I’m referring to which is infinitely worse than what’s happened here?

I don't know. I guess it's because it's everywhere and this is one recent, awful incident, so people tend to focus on things as they actually happen and that are heavily reported at the time

I think there are lots of awful things going on that never make the headlines unfortunately.

Look at Saudi Arabia! Still madness that we make out they are somehow our friends. Money talks though .

So look

More to stop arguing with people I'm out of this discussion , I appreciate that my views are not one that some like but I stand by them on this , doesn't mean I don't like people just means I think that like with most things in life there alot of people maybe being disingenuous on this subject because the alternative view is a bit taboo .

So I'm out

If you're referring to China then it's $$$$.The politics of economic convenience. Same as Govts & people don't really go to town on widespread human rights violations across the "oil states".
Yup. What the Chinese are doing to the Uyghurs is absolutely appalling, but no-one is ever going to do anything about it are they.

I guess we feel (the US and UK) have some sway with Israel.

China are always just going to do whatever they want I think and I don't think anyone is going to ever stop them. 😢

It’s a good point to put to Hamas and free Palestine movements but it is a bit whataboutery isn’t it?

To be honest it's nonsense, the idea that everyone can comment on every situation all the time.
I'd have never commented on this if someone didn't start the thread and have pretty much avoided the Ukraine one.
I've still been following what's going on just chose not to get involved online, should have done that with this one!

It's very fair to say, if we were to comment on all the ills of the world and every piece of wrongdoing, we would never be off this site

I struggle to have a life outside here as it is

I do also think, for me at least anyway, I try to steer clear of many topics and news stories, because they can just bring you down can't they

I had a vested interest in the Ukraine situation, because my ex wife (wife at the time) is Russian and because we (my new partner and I) took a family of Ukrainians in for one year.

I don’t think your view is taboo (other than suggesting that everyone else is a Hamas supporter :(. ). It’s pretty clear that you’re approaching this from a different angle than the average civilian, based on what you’ve posted you clearly have some military experience and have been based in Israel (presumably under the UN). Based on that you are always going to come at it from a different perspective and a perspective that few on here are going to understand. Maybe us civvies have the luxury of looking at this in more black and white terms. I don’t know. All I know is that I personally don’t see the difference between killing innocent people on either side, two wrongs don’t make a right and as awful as the atrocities of terrorism committed against innocent Israelis are the fact is Israel is hellbent on paying that back with interest, lots and lots of interest and that isn’t something that I can personally justify and certainly don’t expect our government and opposition to be doing also. As I’ve already said, when the dust settles Israel aren’t going to come out of this looking like heroes to most people in the world regardless of what our government’s might be saying. And I say that based on what we’ve seen and already know. Collective punishment in the forms of denying the whole of Gaza access to clean water, collective punishment in turning the power of meaning hospitals are running out of fuel to keep their generators going, declaring safe routes then bombing those routes filled with fleeing civilians, the use of white phosphorous weapons in civilian areas. I fear that the worst is still to happen and worse is already waiting to come out.

400,000 members of the Israeli army are ready to begin the ground force.

Mental. It's going to be seriously deadly. Even worse if Lebanon get involved.

Using your fucked up logic, the Ukrainians have had 9 years to get out the way.......so fuck them as well yeah?
This is where Internet forums don't work.

You've taken a comment on one topic, then totally twisted it as being somehow a set in stone logic (totally bizare) and then you've chosen to apply that twisted logic to a completely different scenario!

Seriously, how fucked up is that?

I think everything is going to get worse as a result of this. More attacks across the world.

Absolutely. If Iran get involved, will our friends across the pond get stuck in?

That's before you factor what China must be thinking now. Perfect opportunity for them to conduct their invasion of Taiwan.

It's all very pathetic. How has humanity still not learnt?

It's ridiculous isn't it. You keep trying to tell yourself this is the 21st century, but humankind never, ever learns and wars just continue unabated.

If it wasn't so utterly saddening, you would be concluding that the whole thing is just pathetic.

China is surely watching all this, along with everything else and is waiting for its moment and its moment will come..
