I think he would too, but he’d have found image management a lot harder and probably wouldn’t have been able to project as easily. But also, as I said, he was a better politician.

I realise it's not why theyve done this but I have no problem with putting this on hold.
This is such a huge issue we can't keep ripping up social care policy everytime we change government and starting again.
We need something coherent and long term so it needs to be cross party, not that that did HS2 much good.

There isn't a social care policy, it's literally just left to the market as it has been forever. You can't address some of the problems in the health service without addressing social care. It'll cost more in the long run not to do anything about it.

There's a cross party committee working on it. I heard one of its members interviewed, I couldn't help but think they were using is as a vehicle for creeping privatisation.
Social care definitely has to come under the umbrella of the health service.

Im not sure any poll on its own mean anything which was my real point. Cons got a slight conference bump, so did Labour. Trends suggest they’re well ahead of where they need to be at this point and the gap will likely close over the next year as it always does pre election. There’s nothing to suggest anything other than a heavy Labour win ATM.

Correct. The fact this is backward looking, though, negates the immediate effect of what we’ve seen the last week.
This is the argument politicians need to use for the Net Zero drive, it’d be far more effective as a means of convincing people to opt for renewables and goods powered by renewables.

I’m 23 mate - Lived in Tamworth most of my life until 4 years ago when I moved away for studying, live in Leeds currently but was still registered to vote in Tamworth and I am home for a few days so thought I’d go along
I actually registered to vote in 2019 but I never sent off for my postal poll card in time, (so in fairness today was my first time voting either)
However I did intend on voting Blue in 2019, as I’ve matured and spent more time living away opinions have changed - that combined with various local issues in Tamworth swayed me to vote red

Didn’t think that Labour could win Dorries old seat but they have (took Tamworth too). Even by by-election standards that’s a big win. It was supposed to be the safest Tory seat in the country IIRC.
