Seems to only work with a real scouting network rather than just signing players who 'pop up'.
Or am I wrong, again?

Wrong again as usual. We have or are trying to establish a proper scouting system basically from a standing start something we haven’t had here for years, I doubt Sepalla & Fisher knew what scouts were other than singing ging gang goolly round a camp fire.
Takes time.

In what way are we trying to copy the “Brighton model”?

We’ve had to replace half of our starting XI. Some signings have looked good (MVE, Dasilva, Binks, Lati). Some have barely played enough to make a judgement (Saka, Kitching, Collins). Some have been worrying yes.

We’ve also essentially had to completely replace our scouting team.

I don’t see at all how our “model” has changed.

Gyokeres was already in the country and when he first joined from Swansea a number on here including yourself thought he was pants.
What? How do you think clubs find players within their own country if it’s not via scouts?
Go on, show me where I said he was rubbish.

Let's not beat around the bush all those signings, Kitching aside, who was regarded as expensive at 4.5m from league 1, were within the model of seasons gone by with a bit of extra cash from the VG signing. However where some people are understandably at a loss is how the club's record ever signing looks so woefully off what most would expect for 8 million. We will not be given an answer but I would like know how the signing came about and how close to the deal Robins was i.e. how many times he went to Turkey to watch him play live or full games via video to assess his footballing basics like first touch, shooting ability and link up play. Rather than a highlights reel, as that's not proper due diligence.
I want to give him more time as I know getting on his back will help no one (and I will never boo a CCFC player) but its increasingly frustrating as it seems all we are missing is a genuine 8m forward and we would have won games like yesterday and be well inside the top 6.

Of course we had scouts but not on the Brighton/Brentford level hopefully soon it will be.
I agree. IF we are attempting to follow that model of which is an excellent one then the scouting network right from the top has to correct. That’s an unbelievable hard thing to replicate and based on the recruitment in relation to fees paid out it’s not going well at all. It would not surprise me at all if king taps the brakes on any further spending in January and waits till the close season to review the quality of signings to date.

The best signings so far have been the frees or the loan of Binks so far.

I can see a new recruitment team being assembled early next year in preparation for next season if the fees forked out so far turn out to be a huge failure.

A new recruitment team has been assembled none of us know what imput any had in our new recruits and regarding the newbies how many of the eleven have been flops.

I believe the recruitment team started to assemble in early December last year. I'd have a guess they were instrumental in the new signings.

Hadji Wright has even said he was invited over to the play off final and declined the invitation. My guess he had other irons in the fire at that time hence declining the invitation.

Dean Austin out

100%
So Dean Austin is responsible for our abject performance second half Saturday, if so was he responsible for our first half performance when we could even should have been 4 up.
It isn’t Austin who decides who we sign or play.
Are you suggesting Robins should go ?

You’re about 8 years out, it was the Pressley/Mowbray years where we didn’t have a scouting network.

No I’m not, apart from Badland who did we have ? I’m not saying what we have now is ideal they haven’t been here long enough to judge but whoever the scouts are it’s the manager who decides who we sign and where they play.

To get this thread back on track, can someone define what exactly the “Brighton/Brentford model” is?

We had a scouting system before the current ones...

Ironic you are saying others are wrong.
