Need a younger version of Godden I think, his pace has really gone.
He never had any but the combination of the pace we have in the team, the speed of our counter attacks, the standard of Championship football defenders, and his age has sadly left him hopelessly exposed.

He can knock on Robins door all he likes it’s time we moved on.

My only hope is that he leaves before he becomes a real boo boy. That would be an unfair end to a good career at Coventry.

Tactics were wrong. Soon as we tried to go defensive and put lati in midfield we looked even worse
The problem was as soon as palmer and torp were off the pitch we loose creativity and look bang average. Like we would be if Ohare was sold, average.

At least it shows how far we have come when many of our supporters are pissed off we only won 1 drew 1 against a side with at least one of the best recent home records in English football. As I have said on the match thread they had only lost once at home since September and won most of the rest. They lost to Cardiff 1-2 in the league but then beat them 4-0 in the last round of the FA Cup. At home they've been scoring for fun yet letting in less than a goal a game. In their previous 8 home games they had scored 20 but only 6 against. If I was offered 1 win 1 draw out of the games I would have snatched your hand off.

Sometimes you need to look past the league table. They are near the bottom because they travel worse than fragile glass.

Wilson 4 - The only thing he really had to do he failed to do. Dreadful goalkeeping.
Eccles 7.5 - MOTM for me. Worked his balls off.
Lati 5 - Thought he was really poor. In defence he kind of got away with it, but in midfield he just went backwards all the time. Very negative.
Binks 6.5 - Thought he was pretty good, hard to say that given that we didn't win though.
Kitching 6.5 - Probably similar to the above.
JD 5 - Don't rate him at all. Thought he was pretty crap tonight again.
Sheaf 7 - Pretty solid without being anything stand out. Did his job as expected.
Torp 7 - Obviously there are some fitness goals to work at, but amazing strike. We will watch your career with great interest.
Palmer 6 - Played with passion and tried to make things happen. A few wrong decisions but understandable wanting to score.
Godden 3 - Dreadful. Slow, weak, and even worse in front of goal. Needs to get his head down as he is proving doubters correct at the moment.
Simms 4 - Ran the channels, but other than that was really poor. Very underwhelming signing for me as it stands. Hopefully that'll change.

Substitutes were all pretty poor in my opinion. MvE backed off for their goal. Allen was running without much purpose. The other two I can't say much of note about, and I can't really be fucked anyway.

Robins got it wrong today. Wrong formation, tactics, and substitutions. It's very frustrating that we are now looking at a replay as we should be beating a team like that with the players they selected pretty easily. Hopefully we get a good draw and we can beat them at home to go through.
Did robins get it wrong though?

Or did he make tactical and sub decisions based on prioritising legs? Fact we got a draw and still in the cup may mean he got everything right actually overall

If MR played the team in that formation, with those players selected, and then made the substitutions he did to rest players, it clearly didn't work, as a replay will mean more miles in those tired legs.
He gambled on this occasion, and it has backfired.
Shame though, as it almost worked, but for their late equaliser.

I get why Robins went back to a three yesterday. Without Saka, we haven’t got an out and out winger. Something we need to address as we are so much more effective in our new formation.

It also demonstrated that our best formation is very fragile. An injury to Saka or Wright and we can’t use it. We need at least 1 new wide player, preferably 2.

24 hours to reflect on yesterday we weren’t great but by half time we should have been 3-0 up, just how high Godden & Palmer got their shots over the bar I don’t know & Simms pitiful miss just after half time was unreal.

In fairness to Sheffield Wednesday they played well second half and might have snatched a win at the death, but we are still in the hat.
Torps debut and goal was a bonus imo he’s ready for Bristol and it showed how much we missed COH & Sakamoto without Tatsu we had no width and having no COH we were just flat in the forward area. HE MUST NOT BE SOLD this week, end of season look at then if needs be.
As for individuals in fairness to MR I thought bringing Allen on was the right decision I normally like him & never knock him like a lot do on here, but he was hopeless and perhaps Robins took Sheaf and Torps off too early but as I said earlier we are in the hat, bring on either of the Mancs home or away.

And finally if MR & Doug are serious about promotion they must buy at least one striker this week.
