So you didn't read the 'interesting read' that *checks notes* you posted then?

Clearly yes but that was only one point raised and a point you have decided to focus on. There were numerous points raised - you also seem to have ignored the other link from the Guardian article - have you missed that one?

That there is large scale corruption in Ukraine?

Nobody, myself included, has denied this or said otherwise.

As well as systemic racism, homophobia, misogyny and huge issues with transgender people. Do you deny that?

I guess we should just roll over and let Vlad wipe the UK off the map then given we suffer those same issues here.

I'm not sure what point you think you're making by pointing that out, nobody on here denies any of that.

I think some people sense an implication that Ukraine’s problems with corruption somehow undermine the case for supporting it against the Russian invasion. Is that fair?
Feels like the argument being used to justify Israel's onslaught on the Palestinians because of the existence of Hamas. Clearly neither are fair to put it mildly but hey big nations geopolitical aims are far more important than innocent civilians.

Ironic Tony as you voted for Call Me Dave Austerity Cameron twice
Again, I didn’t. I voted for him once.

I never fell for the charms of Boris “tank topped bumboys, piccaniny water melon smiles, letterbox, women only go to university to find a husband, bring back colonialism, black people make me uncomfortable, Islamophobia is natural, tottymeter, Pirelli Callander fan boy, just pat her on the bum and send her on her way, gay marriage is exactly the same as beastiality” Johnson like you.

Tell me, what was it that first attracted you to the lying, homophobic, racist , bigot that is Boris Johnson? Sorry, I mean Boris lad. What do you think was his best quality?

Tony you admitted you voted twice. Do I have to share the link again?

You also voted the second time for Cameron when he promised a Brexit referendum.

You then took the opportunity to add to the growing support for leaving Europe by voting for Nigel Farage

It’s beyond parody - it really is.

Yeah it always amazes me when posters turn a blind eye to misogyny, racism, homophobia and corruption when it suits them :)

You did passionately defend Nigel Farage against these accusations

Shall I share the link Tony?

Share what you like. It only ever shows I didn’t say what you say I said so knock yourself out .

Given you voted for the Brexit party and proudly had Nigel as your avatar and regularly described him as “the man” you’re being a little bit silly. And to be fair to “the man” I can’t recall Nigel Farage saying or putting in writing anything as blatantly or overtly racist, sexist, antisemitic or Islamophobic as half the stuff Boris is on the record saying.

So did you say on this forum you voted for Cameron then or not in 2013?

The first Cameron should have been Clegg. Genuine mistake on my part.

Now. What was it that first attracted you to the known racist, homophobe, misogynist, anti semite and anti Islam MP Boris Johnson?

“I really care about corruption in government, so I’m backing the Russians”

Amazing, this thread just keeps on giving.
I don't think anyone on here is "backing Russia" - it's hardly the same as having reservations about Ukraine joining the EU.

If you want Ukraine to improve its governance wouldn’t the eu application process be a good thing?
Sure, but it'd take them take them decades to get into the position of actually being ready to join - it's more the fast-tracking without reforms that is a concern...however, I have a feeling it's likely for show and reality the country won't join for a long time yet.

Either way, I’d argue better in the tent than out. I think Hungary for example is a lot better than it would be even though it’s still shitty in a lot of ways. Liberalising the population and having to provide a reason for your smart people to stick around tends to help democratise a place generally and the idea of only having economically similar countries went out the window with the EE countries joining 20 years ago.

And TBH the way things are lining up alliances probably shouldn’t be sniffed at right now.

Yeah but who against?

As would defeating Russia so that they aren't replaced by an even more corrupt government!
It’s looking increasingly unlikely that’s going to happen. It’s inevitable that there will be some kind of settlement - unfortunately for Ukraine it’s out their hands due to reliance on the West.

Yes mainly because of the MAGA dickheads who are siding with the people their fathers and grandfather's despised and whose allies just killed 3 US troops.

Without the US meddling this war would have ended months ago

'meddling'

The US are only interested in the US - they meddle in other countries affairs only if it suits them
