I think it will be so expensive to buy a ticket no one will use it for pleasure , even the electric car can make it from London and back ( just ) - its a scar on the landscape for me - a vanity project thats gone out of control - but you are right could be a long wait for the stadium build

Absolutely batshit take and why we have such a shitty rail system in this country.

The point of HS2 isn't solely making it quicker to go to London. The key bit is releasing capacity on existing lines to allow increased frequency of local trains. It's just a shame this country is so utterly dumbed down by universal tabloid level journalism and the MPs it breeds that the case is never heard.

So the frequency of direct trains from Coventry to London will increase? If anything the opposite will happen and people will be forced into using HS2 at higher cost and lower convenience, all to justify its existence.

They'll be run by different companies though, Avanti aren't going to reduce the number of trains on a profitable service just to push people to use a competitors service?

This is the bit

Hs2 provides 3 parallel opportunities for Coventry : -
 Hs2 frees capacity on the existing rail network, potentially facilitating : -
─ Faster direct WCML Coventry-London Euston services
─ Higher frequency local services between Coventry and Birmingham, and more
direct services to destinations such as Wolverhampton and Walsall
─ New and additional direct WCML services between Coventry, Manchester,
Liverpool, the North West and Scotland
─ Better connectivity between Coventry and the UK-wide Cross Country network
─ Better connectivity to expanding WCML economies such as Northampton and
Milton Keynes
─ A step-change in local services to and from Leicester and the East Midlands

Was always a way of turning Bham into a viable Commuter Town for London. Joke is, by the time it started, commuting kinda died because of that COVID thing, so it's pointless.

Anyone who's ever worked in Projects knows that if the bit you want is in a later 'Phase', it will just get cancelled and you'll never get it. Was just bullsh*t to get it voted through.

People need to get around without cars, not get from the Bull Ring to Harrods quicker. A bit sad to see people defending it. Total waste. Decades of building for marginal gains.

The rail systems in this country is on its arse anyway

The cost of tickets is a national disgrace. Cheaper to fly on any journey above 5 hours, cheaper to drive on any journey below 5

Like most of our infrastructure, the rail system dates back to Victorian times and badly needs updating. Trains in Europe are generally in a different league to ours, and routinely travel at around 200mph.

The Bristol keeper is doing well. Watching on DAZN and can hear the Bristol fans constantly shouting at Vardy haha.

They really are going to end up in the playoffs aren't they?

And if they do there is no way in hell they will go up. To bottle a lead like they had to end up in the play offs would be mentally crushing
