Could say the same for Palmer with the chance where Milan cut it back to him. Why he wanted 47 touches i dont know

My honest thoughts are Palmer on his day is top 2 championship. When hes off form he's bottom 6. His inconsistency is why he never stayed in the top flight and never will

But il say the same for O'Hare. He on top form i feel could probably make a career at a yo yo club, a Burnley, a Leicester etc. But again, his inconsistency for me is why he will never forge a proper premier league career

If we're honest and we really want to give it a shot at autos next season, we need better than both of them
He was going for a lot of flair passes and touches which just weren’t happening. Less is more, but this refusal to shoot in good positions was more frustrating.

Was shouting for him to come on at 55 not 70. Furious he wasnt tbh

But then he came on and did fuck all again so i suppose it didnt matter

He didn't.
But there's a difference between playing poorly and phoning it in. Only an idiot watched that today and thought the latter.

As a Palmer fan, I thought he was poor today. A combination of poor decision making and trying too hard.

Not one to criticise Robins normally, but O'Hare for Palmer came too late today.

Agreed - COH has lost his place because he isn’t impacting games like he was in Dec-Jan. Even then, a few of my mates who are neutrals said the same thing: if he isn’t scoring, he generally isn’t playing that well.

As for Palmer, overplayed a lot today and as good as he can be, he’s probably never going to be a top end Championship AM.

Likewise, I thought our midfield struggled today too. Our passing flickered between being was too cautious and too careless. Thomas and Lati were guilty of this too.

If we play the same formation against Leeds I hope common sense prevails and o hare starts or could be a difficult game

Agree but you missed out one of the biggest offenders Sheaf.

We struggle against sides who are well organised and sit deep. We lack tempo in our passing and telegraph the next pass. When we work it wide we pass up opportunities to cross and force issues (I'm not talking about hoof ball). We seem to lack players who can take on a cross when the ball comes to them for a first time delivery?

I think OHare deserves to start v Leeds based on Palmer's performance today. You could argue Torp before Sheaf based on today's game also.

A number of passes today were so obvious even Mrs BSB called the interceptions and she’s got nystagmus. We are so much more threatening moving the ball at pace and it’s the antidote to teams wanting to camp in front of the ball.

It's simple really, Mark Robins is picking Palmer over O'HARA because Callum hasn't signed the contract.

Agreed on being unable to break organised sides down. I’ve been consistent on this point all season, but we struggle to play through midfield at times. Sheaf was guilty of some poor passing today but at least he went for it. My frustration is that we often dawdle on the balls without causing issues for teams.

Torp had that one promising cross and we need more of that imo.

Agreed, I think this remains our weakness. Games feel too open at the moment, especially against poor sides.

O'Hare should've been on much earlier. It's hardly fair to judge him on 15 minutes against a side playing 11 behind the ball.
I personally don’t see any reason why O’Hare should start in Palmer’s place, he had over 20 minutes against tired legs, and I’m not sure I remember him doing anything of note other than being in and around the box a bit….

Palmer played a large part in our goal with his perfectly weighted through ball to MVE, and in the first 20 minutes or so played some great passes through their defence and has recently had a much better link up with Simms and Wright, playing balls they can actually get on the end of and do something with

Also, just a separate point, KP definitely can’t play against Man Utd, and what would we do if COH gets injured before that match too? Aware that’s not a reason to not play him, but a consideration in the mix surely…

Well, aside from the fact he would be blowing out his arse after 30 minutes and struggled to play 2 games in a row, no.

So you have no evidence at all of a lack of professionalism, you just thought you would make stuff up. The reality is that he has been among our most effective players all season (whether he’s been playing for Jamaica or not). I’m just surprised you haven’t thrown in the “lazy” trope for good measure.

Yes at times need more tempo in our passing and we have a reluctance to cross and work defenders
Not talking hoof ball, just we work it wide and players can't put a first time cross in? Too many touches chance gone go back to half way line. It's frustrating.

Spot on although Palmer has a higher ceiling than Ohare and id rather keep Palmer as a squad player, but we definitely need to upgrade on Ohare,as fantastic as he has been for us. Ohare is too small (FFS i hope nobody says Messi..) and while i think he is top draw for a top 10 Championship side, i think for clubs with premier League aspirations he is just a squad player in the no.10 role like Palmer is. As you correctly say we now need a no.10 who would be good enough to play regularly in the PL. I know people will say getting that no10 is hard unless you are in the PL, but thats the point, if we want to get there and stay there, this summer we need that player which means spending a bit. There was some talk i think (not sure how accurate it was) in the summer last year linking us with Evander at Portland Timbers.

Palmer also gives us a threat aerially. Palmer if he adds consistent end product to his game and consistency is definitely PL standard. Ohare i dont think is, not quite.

Agreed. We still miss someone with Hamer’s ability to put the ball into space and today there were plenty of opportunities to be more direct to Simms, Wright and even Tavares - we opted for safer passes consistently.

We got caught out down the left hand side a lot today. I don’t think that was down to Bidwell individually but rather it was tactical. We predominantly set up as a 4-2-3-1 but we definitely shifted shape to allow Wright get central.

With Sakamoto, we had someone who was willing to take on defenders with dribbling moves whereas MVE is not comfortable with that.

So if he turns into a completely different player, who’s consistent and has end product then he’s PL standard? Good to know. Not sure why it’s relevant to us though 🤣

Palmer is at the same time one of the best and also most frustrating players we’ve had at the club in the last 10-15 years. In full flight he is majestic, but then overplays it and does something daft. The good news is that as time goes on the majestic is outweighing the daft, and he is still getting better.
Still bloody maddening on occasions though!
