So basically your clueless then!He is going to West Ham apparently although i think he may end up back at Villa although if he did he would be a squad player nothing more.
No way he stays here UNLESS he has been told about our recruitment plans and has been told Sheaf is staying and has come to the conclusion he will be in the PL with us season after next. I find the latter bit totally unrealistic, so he is gone.
But in terms of money probably okGoing to play in the SPL would be a step backwards.
Wages aside, moving to the SPL from the Premier League and the Championship is a step back for me.
The SPL is a shite league and standard, let’s be honest.
If he goes to Celtic then hes a shithouse, absolute pub standard
It could be a good move to put himself in the shop window if no Prem interest materialises. If he goes to Celtic then hes a shithouse, absolute pub standard

I’m over it to be honest, if he doesn’t re-sign, there’s an opportunity to get another player in. Someone like Rudoni will probably be a better player than COH is when he’s 26.

Agree with that in terms of football terms. But a significant increase in your wage doesn’t indicate that. Don’t know why anyone really cares where he goes to be honest. Once it was clear it wasn’t going to be here I’d lost interest
Nah. At 25 it shouldn’t be about shop windows. If he leaves us for Celtic his agent needs sacking. Might get him more £££ but footballing standard and pedigree is a shambles.
Celtic and rangers in recent times are rubbish in Europe (apart from the year rangers won it) and then it’s back to the pub league. Massive clubs but that’s all it is.
The SPL has been a good shop window for lots of top players, but given he already plays in England and is already mid 20s I don't think it really applies in his situation.
the Scottish league is no different to the Portuguese league. sub standard football and same teams up the top. this would be no different to Vik going sporting
If Vik had gone to Celtic not Sporting there would be no way teams would be quoted £85m for him this summer.Id argue Sporting, Benfica and Porto are at a much higher level than Celtic Rangers and Aberdeen

he would have gone for £30m max.
more in reference to the league standard
Portuguese league no different to Scottish. some grounds hold as little as 3,000
The Portuguese league is much better than the Scottish league. I know what you mean about the bottom end of it being terrible, difference is in Scotland the whole league is terrible.the Scottish league is no different to the Portuguese league. sub standard football and same teams up the top. this would be no different to Vik going sporting

Oh i dunno, theres some lovely stadiums in Portugal mainly off the back of Euro 2004.
He’s done enough to earn a transfer already. No point staying an extra season.agree but league standard not much different. some really poor teams in the Portuguese league and that’s why Vik could potentially stay another year at sporting

Smart guy choosing a large-ish European club over a mediocre Premier League team. Who was looking at him? The likes of Everton and Wolves? I'd fuck off to Lisbon too. Now he's in the shop window of the really big English (and other European) teams. A shop window that Scottish football sure as shit wouldn't put you in either.he might not want to. that’s why he chose sporting over the prem in the first place. he wanted to become sweden no 1 striker and he wouldn’t have done that being squad player.
we are all wishing he leaves but he may want another season at sporting in the champions league

I don't think it's similar. For Vik it's a stepping stone, for Cal this move will be where he spends the best years of his career.think we all agree Vik all round better player than ohare. hence why Celtic would suit ohare. Europe football, close to home and playing in a 60,000 ground
Hence why ohare choosing Celtic is similar to Vik going Portugal. very similar aspects

Well I agree with you there. It's up to him whether he backs himself to be more than a squad player though isn't it... if he chooses Celtic he's admitting he doesn't.Ohare isn’t good enough for a top prem team. he could be used as a squad player for mid to low prem team. Celtic play in Europe, he would be a regular and on more money than here.
same as Cantwell at Rangers
I think there’s a fair amount of hindsight when it comes to evaluating Vik’s career path. He’s done brilliantly, but there’s nothing to say he wouldn’t have commanded just as much attention if he’d gone to a midtable PL team either.Smart guy choosing a large-ish European club over a mediocre Premier League team. But I'm saying Sporting is a preferable move just generally to playing for some wanky mid table Prem club. I hate this thinking that everything is about the Prem... some clowns would have you believe Sporting to Brentford would be an upgrade.I think there’s a fair amount of hindsight when it comes to evaluating Vik’s career path. I look at someone like Ndiaye who’s gone a similar route to Vik and his stock has plummeted, for example.
Maybe in terms of salary it would be! But generally I agree with you.But I'm saying Sporting is a preferable move just generally to playing for some wanky mid table Prem club.
