USSR invades Ukraine. (30 Viewers)

Return to Russia. Lifted straight out of Putins dressed up dossier On the Historical Unity of Russians and Ukrainians that you seem so convinced is historically accurate.

And East Berlin was not part of the USSR dumbo.
Pretty sure it was essentially a puppet state.

Never said he did want East Berlin back, but I reckon he would if he could. Why do I say this? Because Russia has meddled with multiple former Soviet states, just ask Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova.

Nah, I am sure he just wants Ukraine and that's it...
And if he does want to “return” lands back to Russia according to the warped history of Russian history Putin subscribes too you can add Estonia to the list. They know it, they fear it and have said just in the last week that if Ukraine falls they have no plan B. The defence of Estonia in their opinion is intrinsically linked to Ukraine not falling.

So it’s supposition and not evidence based theory then?

Putin will not meddle with a NATO protected country. We meddle in the Middle East but I don’t see time when we roll tanks through the whole Islamic regime.
I've already laid my evidence out and my statement quoted remains based on the available evidence, Russia has attacked and occupied three former Soviet states. The USSR was a composite of separate territories over many years. They don't have to attempt to attack all of them to prove Putin wants a return to a USSR, in some semblance..

Using grandiose terms is cheap and does not back up your opinion or useful to discredit mine. Your logic is deeply flawed.

Arguable but certainly not part of the USSR. Don’t understand why you keep stretching to bail out Grendull. Surely you understand he’s full of shit and a fully paid up member of the Putin appreciation society quoting chapter and verse Putins propaganda most notably On the Historical Unity of Russians and Ukrainians which he’s been quoting practically word for word.

What a mature argument Tony. I can see why you have such gravitas on this forum. You certainly get the respect you deserve.

Sorry I think your evidence is flimsy at best and that is being polite.

I’m just stating facts.

What sort of logic do you use, my man? I ask the same thing of North Korea, why do they need to claim to be something apparently the people don't believe in or want?

You say Russian people don't want democracy, how do you know this? how have they come to that conclusion if they have never had the chance to experience it?

Also, the Soviet Union was in trouble before Gorbachev came into power, and the disregard for public health and the lack of transparency at Chernobyl ultimately led to the start of the downfall of the Soviet Union.
It's simply impossible to know what the Russian people think and want. It is beyond crazy that he claims to know what over 140 million people living in a brutal dictatorship believe.

For a start it is almost certain that opinions will vary as much as they do in any country. However, the most important thing is that Russia is a totalitarian state where it is illegal and liable to imprisonment to say anything which criticises the state or its leaders. No one knows what the people of Russia want or whether or not they want democracy. Common sense suggests most would but who knows.

The fact being it wasn’t part of the USSR. Agreed?

Still not sure why you constantly debase yourself to the Tucker Carlson of SBT. Someone who just continually parrots Putins warped version of History as if it’s fact. It isn’t.

NATO labelled a puppet state but this was disputed, I believe.

I guess the only thing you could call it was a Soviet-occupied member of the Eastern Bloc?

Which it seems Mr Putin wants back “if he could”

I didn’t say it was part of the USSR; I said it was a puppet state.

I didn’t either. Tony needs to take better notes.

In defence of someone who claimed it was part of the USSR when I pointed out it wasn’t.

If you wanted to make the point that it wasn’t but was a puppet state to the USSR you should have made that point to the pound shop Tucker Carlson. Instead you chose to debase yourself by attempting to jump to his defence with an arguably incorrect statement and definitely an irrelevant point. It simply was never part of the USSR. That’s not an opinion, it’s an extremely well documented and universally accepted fact.

You implied it, as I was discussing the USSR, you then mentioned East Berlin, given the context, you thought East Berlin was part of the USSR.

Personally I think you should own this one, given your proclivity for cheap semantic tricks, constantly trying to trip other people up. Talk about being hoisted by your own petard.

With respect Tony I have explained my point regarding that.

It is worth noting on the politics thread you made a blatant lie when you claimed over 50% of private school children are foreign nationals.

That was a lie Tony - will you retract the comment?

Coming next. Grendull quotes Mein Kampf as being historically accurate to justify Hitler invading Poland. Hitler used exactly the same language and propaganda to invade Poland as Putin did to invade Ukraine in On the Historical Unity of Russians and Ukrainians which grendull has been quoting chapter and verse as historical fact in defence of Putin.

While people on here indulge in pointless arguments over the rights and wrongs of the Russian "special operations" in Ukraine,
It appears that France has quietly equiped Ukrain with Mirrage-2000 fighter jets, and offered fighter jet training to Ukrainian pilots.

After last weeks announcement that long range rockets can be used against military targets inside Russia, it now seems undeniable that the conflict is quietly escalating to a frightening level.
Putin has already warned Macron that fighter jets would cross a red line with Moscow.

We’ve been crossing Russian red line for ages. They aren’t going to do shit because they can’t. It’s all just bluster for the domestic audience.

It hasn't quietly equipped Ukraine with fighter jets. The pilots are starting 6 months of training soon so nothing will be going until next year.

Several countries have already supplied jets over the past two years and it's made no difference to Russian actions.

Fighter jets have already been provided to Ukraine.

This is like the other day when you said Russia was just waiting for western rockets to arrive in Ukraine and they would destroy them all...despite them having been there for 18 months 😅

The rockets may have been their for a while, but the major change is that from last week the Ukraine military now have permission to fire them into Russian territory.
Please at least try to keep up.

So, Russia attacking Ukraine inside Ukraine, fine, Ukraine attacking Russia in Russia, hold on a second.

The logic is freaking shocking.

Not what you said the other day.

And they have already been used to strike targets in Russia, so they haven't destroyed them like you said either.

It's not shocking at all when you realise that Russia has nuclear weapons and is threatening to use them.

Ukraine has no such weapons, and therefore canot escalate the conflict without supplies of long-range weapons from NATO AND permission to use them in an offensive action rather than a defensive action.
Once that permission is granted and the weapons are used we will be entering a completely different phase of the "conflict"

In short we are potentially on a fast road to WW3

Why does Zelenski keep pleading for planes?
