I'd say his cross / diagonal ball for Haji Wright vs Leeds is the assist of the season
Therefore the odd one coming off
I'd say his cross / diagonal ball for Haji Wright vs Leeds is the assist of the season
One of the goals of the season too, I thought. Great pace by MvE to get us up the field, perfect pass from Eccles and an exceptionally cheeky finish by Wright. Lovely goal
Yeah that is the one I was thinking of when I corrected myself in typing “the odd one” rather than typing “never”, that was a great ball tbf but it’s just not frequent enough.I'd say his cross / diagonal ball for Haji Wright vs Leeds is the assist of the season
I’ll admit I’ve changed my tune on Eccles and see him as a potentially top Champ DM - the Leeds performance really highlighted that. However, I don’t think we’ll get promoted with Sheaf and Eccles playing in the same midfield in a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3. Neither has the game changing ability that Hamer had and it’s no coincidence we’re linked with multiple CMs on big money/wages. Either Sheaf or Eccles (if Saddles scoop is right) will be sold this window.19th highest number of progressive passes in the entire league from Eccles
Some people on here have made their mind up about him, no matter what. He's a good player, good awareness, great tackling.
He's not a playmaker or goalscorer, he's more of a midfield enforcer, and protects the back 4 from midfield runners. He does the dirty work so those like Palmer can do the pretty stuff without worrying about getting their kit dirty.
What I would say is that he's improving every year, and if he continues in that vain we won't be having this discussion next year.
He's only recently turned 24. So a valuable member of the squad. If he improves again this season he'll be off for decent money.
I remember in the match before he did a similarly spectacular pass to van Ewijk. These things are invisible to some though. One of the goals of the season too, I thought. Great pace by MvE to get us up the field, perfect pass from Eccles and an exceptionally cheeky finish by Wright. Lovely goal
To an extent. He has more natural ability than Sheaf in my view.I wonder if it’s confidence with him. He has more in his locker than he shows on a regular basis.

I like Eccles and he's a really versatile player. Unfortunately in the games where Sheaf hasn't played he has really struggled to step up and control a game in my opinion. Talented lad though and hopefully more to come from him.Eccles is good but as I said a few weeks ago, with some he's now in so underrated he's overrated territory. Could see him being the one to drop from the first 11 if we pull off this new signing. That said we'll have a far better squad that we'll be able to rotate more so 'first 11' may vary.
If we lose Sheaf he's very handy as he's quite similar but not quite as good.

I'd say that if we can bring in a couple of better players that sees Eccles drop to the bench, then we'd be odds on for promotion.I will say that he should stay, he’s clearly a valuable asset to us and he’s still young. I don’t want us to get rid of him, and I don’t feel like I’m blinded by any particular hatred for him, I just hope we can find better that can start week on week because atm we’re relying on him rather than just playing him because we can.
I can't read that in anything other than Barry Davies' voice. One of the goals of the season too, I thought. Great pace by MvE to get us up the field, perfect pass from Eccles and an exceptionally cheeky finish by Wright. Lovely goal
Modelling the new CCFC/England half and half as well...
Damn straight you can'tI can't read that in anything other than Barry Davies' voice.
Likewise we probably got some for Gyokeres. You’d have thought after 19 goals a piece some of the £4,5m and £1.3M addons for simms and wright respectively would be due too.
Damn.So if Stamenic is over here with his goalkeeping teammate Omri Glazer - could that mean we are interested in Glazer too?
Well to be fair if Glazer is anywhere as good as Glazier I would snap their hands off. Apparently he is the record holder for saves in a European Cup matchDamn.
Thought you said Bill Glazier.
I believe there’s a lot of promotion add-ons too. Particularly on Simms deal, not as sure on Wright. You’d have thought after 19 goals a piece some of the £4,5m and £1.3M addons for simms and wright respectively would be due too.

We may well have spent that amount and received £32 for Gyok and Hamer. What people fair to understand is, the 2 assets (gyok & Hamer) cost the Club no more than £3 million pounds. We then made £29 million pound in pure profit and potentially more in sell on clauses etc.We received £32m for Gyokeres and Hamer:
MVE £3.5m
Saka £1.2m
Simms £3.5m
Wright £7.7m
Kitching £4m
Thomas £2m
Torp £2m
EMC £5m
Collins £0.6m
£30.5m
Plus undisclosed signing on fees + agents fees. I'd say that the money has long gone.

Agreed. This Stamenic, Sanches, Rudoni and even Browne are all players that are considered ‘box-to-box’, possibly Rudoni is the exception.I feel like we're more likely to play with 1 of them and 2 box to box players. Torp and another.
I wouldn’t.Yeah I’d expect the bulk of the £4.5m for Simms to be based around promotion.
If he was doing it frequently he wouldn’t be playing for CoventryYeah that is the one I was thinking of when I corrected myself in typing “the odd one” rather than typing “never”, that was a great ball tbf but it’s just not frequent enough.
Not what was reported in this case. Was £3.5m rising to £8mI wouldn’t.
I would expect at least 70% was the base fee. Add ons are normally the minority of a deal not the majority.
We don’t actually know. It was undisclosed. Not what was reported in this case. Was £3.5m rising to £8m
£3.5m upfront is a bargain for a 22-year old, 19 goal striker bearing mind he’d score 3 goals in 2023 for us.Not what was reported in this case. Was £3.5m rising to £8m
I did say reported i didnt claim to know.We don’t actually know. It was undisclosed.
The Liverpool echo had the total package at between £6m-£8m. They are guessing too.
If he was doing it frequently he wouldn’t be playing for Coventry
100% agree, as consistent as Eccles is (and I’m not saying we should sell him) he doesn’t provide enough oomph going forward. I get that his role isn’t to provide goals but when the opportunity arises he’s not accurate enough and doesn’t create enough assists or threatening chances. Both Sheaf and Eccles, for all of their tackling and passing, didn’t really impact the game in the box. Of those two, Sheaf is the better player and this is where my past criticisms have been misconstrued somewhat.

Where did I say he was shit? But by that logic you’re almost saying we’re destined to have shit players that can’t make successful crosses frequently? Like why should we be grateful to have him if he can’t produce threatening attacks?
I want us to be in the prem, that’s all I care about, we should be aiming to get better and better players, not have ones that can’t cross balls into the box accurately. I’m not having a go at your personally but I think there’s too much favouritism for certain players on here.
You ain’t got much of a clue about football. Robins deems him good enough and I actually know the game and appreciate the qualities Eccles brings to the teamBut by that logic you’re almost saying we’re destined to have shit players that can’t make successful crosses frequently?
