As it’s been all quiet on the news front recently (@Saddlebrains what’s occurring?) I was wondering what people thought of the current value of our squad? Particularly thinking players like Van Ewijk, Haji, Simms, Saka, Eccles etc. If an offer came in for them what would be your minimum price? For me MVE has to be our highest priced asset, not sure where I’d start with his price tbh.

Minimum I’d take for each of our players right now:

Wright £20m
Simms £20m
Sheaf £16m
MVE £15m
Saka £10m
Thomas £8m
Eccles £7.5m
Kitching £5m
Torp £4m
Lati £2m
Palmer £2m

All others probably £1m or less tbh.

I actually think you’re bang on there, apart from I’d want minimum £20 mil for Van Ewijk, I think a bit of polishing and he could be in a Crystal Palace or Fulham team, only 23 and got pace for days, just needs to be more confident at times.

Agree with the majority apart from:

Saka - nowhere near £10 million. He had a decent 8 weeks from November to January. The few games before being injured he was poor. Worth £2-3 million max at present

Eccles - £4-5 million tops.

Torp - £1-2 million tops. Hughe potential but you don’t go from £1.2 million to £4 million in about 10 games.

No we should snap a teams hand off if they offer us 1/4 of what we paid for Wright according to some on this forum

Wright and Simms took dogs abuse off loads on here, now they are the untouchables. People are more defensive of criticism of Latibeaudiere which tells you a lot about the forums eye for a player

Saka closer to £20m for me, Thomas £8m, not for me, closer to 3

I think that’s got to be the biggest discrepancy I’ve ever seen on here, difference of around £18 mil 😂

No idea mate, all calm on the western front

Which probably means we'll reveal a signing

The thing that thwarts Sakamoto's value is his age, he turns 28 in October.

No doubt he's probably more than doubled his value already though, and could maybe get £4-5 million if he continues ripping defences apart at the start of next season. He's probably not worth selling though for that, with his importance to our play.

If he swapped ages with Simms, then yeah, you're looking at a 20m player if he puts his injury behind him. He'd have so much more upside if he was 22, his ceiling could be ridiculous!

£2/3m !!! You must be blind.

Simms 15 to 20
Wright 12 to 15
Saka 5 to 9
mVe 8 to 12
Sheaf 14 to 18
Eccles 4 to 6

Probably no one with a higher price tag than that atm, Simms could increase in value significantly due to age, same for MVE. The rest are in the ballpark but could go for top end of they have a barnstormer next season.

Do you think it’s possible a team could come in for Simms or Van Ewijk this window?

I know that all players want to play for bigger and better teams but I sort of get the impression with Simms in particular that he thinks he’s destined for a much bigger club than us. I continually forget he’s only 23, always acts/looks way older.

Funny you say that about Simms. It’s Haji that I think will want a move first, hes already played for 7 clubs across 5 different countries and he just seems determined to make it to the top. I think Simms will be here for a good few years.

They’re the prices I’d sell for.

We wouldn’t sell Saka for 3m, Eccles for 5 or Torp for 2, would we? Doug wouldn’t even pick up the phone for those offers.

I get what you mean about Haji but I’m not sure how much better he can get really, especially as he’s 26, sounds odd considering how much he’s improved this season but I just get the feeling he’d struggle at a prem club. Whereas Simms is only 23 and he seems to be the sort of player that just needs some quality coaching to get to the next level, maybe.

Not blind mate, just realistic

The bloke is a fans favourite but had about 10 decent games for us between November and January.

If he has a full season this year for us then he will be worth more undoubtedly but not at the moment.

I get that he didn’t play a full season but I think he was still in great form right before his injury, provided he gets through it okay I assume he carries on where he left off. I’d want at least £8-10 mil for him, our form really dropped off after we lost him to injury.

£8-10 million based on what ?

I don’t doubt that we missed him, I understand and accept that.

But let’s look at the facts

We bought him for approx £1.2 million if you believe the rumours

He hardly featured before November

He had a good couple of months scoring 6 goals (from memory) and a couple of asssits.

he had gone off the boil in the lead up to his injury - possibly fatigue due to playing right through Christmas or clubs had become aware of him.

Then he of course suffered the unfortunate injury

So how based on a few goals over a 2-3 month window does a players value increase five fold ?

i like the guy and hope he comes back and helps us get to the Premier League but cannot see how you get £8-10 million Unless he scores and assists 15+ each next season.

They should really shut this forum down in the summer.

Eccles worth a packet of cigarettes, but Sheaf somehow worth more than Hamer.

We regularly point out the delusion in other fan bases, and our many years of struggle I felt had grounded us. It is clearly not the case anymore.

Because why would we sell him?

He settled well, was integral to the team in our best run of form and had a great return goals wise.

You think if someone offered us 5/6/7m now we'd accept it? No, we wouldn't.

I don't doubt that it's unlikely anyone would pay 10m, but that's why he won't move this summer.

Based on the fact he has 2 years on his contract instead of one, putting us in a much better bargaining position.

The clubs did everything of the blackarts against him and sure that this season he will be more aware and not so intimidated by them. Norwich being the worst if you ask me as Wagner openly admitted to it

It’s not necessarily that I think he’s worth £8-10 mil as an official amount, but in terms of the initial question I asked, that’s how much I’d want if we sold him. If we got any lower than that then I’d be disappointed.
I think he’s a great asset to us, particularly as his agility and confidence on the ball is something we don’t have abundance of in the squad.

Behave. The fawning is embarrassing.

Useless captain. Lose more games when he plays than when he doesn't. No assists for the entire season, despite having more time and space on the ball than anyone else. Does a few good tackles and the crowd get a hard one. Yet, easily been at fault for as many goals as Latibeaudiere and JDS, but our fan base spontaneously turn into Stevie Wonder upon every mistake.

How many years does Eccles have left on his contract? Must be worth 75 million then. Your excuses don't wash, and our fan base have embarrased themselves recently on this strange cult. The evaluations are really weird. Hamer had 10 goals, and as many assists, but he is taken the piss out of constantly on here. We are literally talking leagues of difference, not a year on a contract.

Best warn all the clubs willing to spend £10m+ on Sheaf then. They must be watching Eccles by mistake.

If offered I'd imagine the club would accept:

Sheaf £15m
Wright £15m
Simms £15m
MVE £10m
Saka £5m
Thomas £5m
Eccles £4m
Kitching £5m
Torp £3m
Lati £1m
Palmer £1m

Hang on you on about Sheaf or Eccles? Sorry I’m lost now 😂 Agree with you that people are overvaluing either of them compared to Hamer though, he was a massive massive talent for us and is still probably the best player in Sheffield Utd’s squad. I do think some people get carried away with Sheaf and Eccles, they’re both decent (Sheaf much more so than Eccles imo) but I’m not sure Sheaf should be upwards £15 mil. Eccles I’d happily sell for £5 mil tbh, but I hope we keep both as they’re both great squad options.

I don't think we'd get anywhere near 5 million for Eccles

And I get accused of disliking King, my guy actively despises Ben Sheaf.

Ben Sheaf of all people. I know its said as a joke but all seriousness to hate someone that much is unhealthy
