Just looked up that Romanian we were supposedly about to sign last season that pulled out, Denis Dragus. Seems he had a season in the Turkish Super League on loan.

Good player, was excited about this one but looks like that ship has sailed.

Yeah, he's a good player. I expect he'll be the starter up front for Romania at the Euros.

I'm led to believe it's whilst scouting him that we spotted Sakamoto though so... Every cloud!

I'd love us to go back in for him. Said last year he'd be a canny signing.

With existing players (Hadji, Palmer, Lati, JDS and Rodrigues plus the players we have been linked with, there could be quite a few away on international duty during the season. Some of them going on long haul flights. Not ideal.

He turned us down last summer apparently

Since last year though we’ve been to Wembley AGAIN playing in the FA Cup semi final and played a blinder. Depending if it’s true or not whether that Turkish team have signed him or not full time he might think hmmmm I might now fancy it there. He ‘could’ potentially slot in as a No 10 maybe?

Could spell big problems for our summer but apparently Vik staying hinged largely on Amorim staying, according to Duncan Castles and Sergio Krithinas on 'The Transfers Podcast' (Great listen if you need your transfer fix). They think Sporting will demand the release clause and not sure they'll be the appetite to pay that for a 26y/o.

If anyone wants to hear what they say it's 30 minutes into the latest episode.

That's very much the conclusion I have reached. You'd need at least 2 clubs with a 100M EUR budget to spend on a striker and for me it needs to be a Champion's League team for Gyok to consider the move. That really narrows down the field a lot.

Any deal that happens would surely happen late anyway because it will take a lot of negotiation, so I don't see any transfer strategy for us that relies upon this move happening.

All transfers are listed as 1st July as thats the official contract start date. Clubs can announce signings anytime before then

Very true. One of the main reasons Vik wanted Sporting was Ruben Amorim. Now he has champions league football aswell it's definitely a lot less likely than it was that he will leave

Arsenal and Chelsea are still holding a very keen interest in him. Let's be honest if Arsenal had Vik this season they win the league

The Vik money would be nice but we can't fully reliant on that. Can't see Hamer dropping to the championship, id imagine he'll get offers in the Prem. sould get another few million out of any deal
