It'll be interesting to see what the fee is, hopefully less than some of the rumoured fees that were floating around for him a little while ago.

Did he contribute to that 5th place finish?
That is not the point, you clearly were sneering at Bologna without having checked the tables before.

Someone who has played about 15 or s Serie A games is going t be a good player adn will cost more than 1 million quid.

Not taking a side in this as I don’t mind Binks but did he play in the normal Serie A team? I read somewhere that he was in the “B” team or something, not sure if that’s true though?

The actual games he appeared in

yeah, at going rates for players yes it does

You are not going to get someone who has played at that level for a million quid

People forget how much players cost these days and the market rates for them.
Gonzalo Vilar moved to Grenada after playing 17 games in the Serie A in 22/23 for less than £1m and thats after a 30 second search.

I wasn't sneering at Bologna I think you are missing the point. He played a handful of games for them a couple of years ago when they didn't finish 5th, he rarely started. He was playing Serie B football the season before us and he wasn't a regular starter in the Championship for us last season.

I like him as a player but just think a reality check is needed in this case.

Absolutely. Cov should be trying to persuade Bologna to tear up his contract. Unlikely but it seems some fans think there is a bottomless pit of money to spend

Cool, there are exceptions but as a rule players who have played that many games for a serie a cost more than 1 million

Kitching's main issue is he is too slow and not agile which has been repeatedly exposed in games. I don't think this is a problem he can easily address, I fear we've overpaid in a panic on deadline day and/or Doug flexing his muscles.

From what I've seen, Binks has the potential to be a much better player than Kitching.

Id be pleased with a Binks signing as long as we don't over pay.

I think you’ll find Kitching’s main issue is his fucking bowl cut. Sort your hair out, man.

Bologna are going to want far more than £1m for him.

The fact we’re even interested means he’s worth more than that.

Wouldn’t mind him re signing but for anything north of £2.5m I think there are better uses of our money.

Bit surprised if he does sign, I'd have thought he'd have wanted more games than he got last year.

I think the point is they’ll all improve.
The thing is with young defenders, providing the potential is there, the more they play together the better the defence should become. Of course this is all theory, but a consistent defence (if good enough) really helps. See Grahams Arsenal.

Jose Mourinho rated Binks when he was younger and is one of the great managers when it comes to recognising talent and potential.
Kitching was great in our run of games until near the end of the season. Kitching needs to improve his positional play and to stop getting sent off when it harms the team. Binks according to MR was improving all the time with us. Somehow, I will be surprised if this happens, unless Bologna place a realistic price on any transfer.

Binks would be a brilliant singing.

He’s comfortable on the ball and a confident player. Defensively he’s solid enough and that will improve with more game time and experience in the Championship. Bags of potential.

He also seems to have his head screwed on, has an affinity for the club and is obviously bought into the vision/journey/plan.

No downside for me.

If he’s £3 mil or under then I think that’s fair, anything significantly north of that and I think we can invest the money more wisely. What was Van Ewijk? £4 mil maybe? And he’s probably worth around £10 mil now? If we’re buying Binks for more than Van Ewijk then we’re doing something seriously wrong.

It is more likely that it is Binks persuading them to rip up his contract? If he is on the reported wages that stacks up over the next two years.

They can cut loose his wages and make a tidy profit on a young player. Yes he has great potential but it doesn't sound like he has settled in Italy.

I think a deal can be made suitable for all especially with a few add ones.

Binksy has a publicly viewable LinkedIn account, accessible through a Google search and on it, it says he plays for Cov ", previously of Tottenham Hotspur Academy, Montreal Impact, Bologna 1909 and Como 1907."

This suggests he's left Bologna !

Or it could just be a balls-up by the website or his agent/PR rep 🤷‍♂️

It's just what he had last season, it was changed in August when he joined on loan
