Didn’t even know mong was not PC nowadays
Just researched the origins of the word and how it was used many moons ago. Interesting. But in the same context, people with similar disabilities were called idiots back then.

It’s an insult that implies someone has Down Syndrome as historically people with Down Syndrome were referred to as ‘mongoloids’ as their facial features allegedly made them look East Asian.Didn’t even know mong was not PC nowadays
I’m pretty sure it’s not been PC for about 30 years.Didn’t even know mong was not PC nowadays
Is your man Steve McLaren? Might explain the slightly Dutch sounding pronunciation of Godden.Yesterday's news from our workplace ITK, Steve was: "Callum O'Neill has just rejected the clubs contract offer".
Steve, a man of pensionable age (in fact he is retiring in a couple of months) has only recently jumped aboard the Sky Blue express (Now a ST holder but previously a long range sniper of the club) he has constantly not just struggled to name more than 3 or 4 team players but when doing so invariably gets their name wrong.
Just last week he informed me a player called 'Hodden' was going to Birmingham City for 1.3 million.
After deducting he probably meant 'Godden', I then tried to explain to him that over the hill championship strikers with dwindling potency don't command that sort of fee and to stop getting his info off the facebook forum.
He didn't heed my advice and had a wager with a blues fan that 'Hodden' was on his way.
The blues fan already tasting the lager readily accepted the wager and earlier this week was the recipient of four cans of cheap Polish elixir.
Steve's historical condemnation of our previous owners, 'CISCO' is legendary.
I think we're all gonna miss him.
I used to live in an ex workhouse and we had some old records. Disposition of some inmates was classed as “imbecile “Just researched the origins of the word and how it was used many moons ago. Interesting. But in the same context, people with similar disabilities were called idiots back then.
He should go to Leeds . Massive club with a big hardcore who will love O'Hare's bloody irritating personality.Well different people measure these things in different ways. But recently Burnley were valued at £200m and Coventry at £56. Burnley were showing profits of 63m but these reversed with relegation (not talking this season). I can't remember last time we showed a profit?
They have a very large support for a small town and situated in a very competitive are, just like we are. Before the 1960's Coventry were always a lower division side. Also our levels of support has fluctuated, even before SISU.
Burnley if they really wanted O'Hare, could probably offer more wages than us. As could Leeds.
tbf, given he was coming back from a serious injury and the wages he'd like, you'd maybe want to wait until later before making your offer just to check he had been able to last the duration. It feels a bit strange that these sort of rumours are circling about O'Hare implying a war for his signature, you'd have expected him to be pretty much locked in with whoever he is going to sign for by now, especially as pre-season starts in two week's time.
If someone told me to change my username you can be damn sure I would absolutely not do it.

That's the old outdated meaning. It’s an insult that implies someone has Down Syndrome as historically people with Down Syndrome were referred to as ‘mongoloids’ as their facial features allegedly made them look East Asian.
A double whammy of insulting people with developmental issues and some good old fashioned racism.
That's the old outdated meaning.
In todays modern English (?) It's refering to a clueless, stupid person.
And as such, I'm surprised it's not used a lot more on here.
Actually... that's alrightBigMan85

Never seems to stop Boosh?I don't think you can, can you, when you're registered you can't change it.
InterestingSouthampton and Burnley now face competition from Leeds United as the trio of clubs attempt to sign soon-to-be free agent Callum O'Hare.
Is that really a step up?
No. That's why we're still in play

I know, right?What a mong
Yeah you can do.I don't think you can, can you, when you're registered you can't change it.

Yeah you can do.
Agents and clubs put feelers out. So O'Hare has probably had plenty of interest. But I can't see him being a must have for any Premier League side. He doesn't strike me as the sort of character that could move abroad and settle. I think he is firmly rooted in the home market. I think he will have to bide his time and be a 3rd or 4th choice acquisition towards the end of the window. It feels a bit strange that these sort of rumours are circling about O'Hare implying a war for his signature, you'd have expected him to be pretty much locked in with whoever he is going to sign for by now, especially as pre-season starts in two week's time.
Yeah. It always felt like he would either be offered a bit part/squad role at best by lower PL clubs, and I think a lot of interest would only come later on if they missed out on preferred targets. His best bet was other Championship clubs who may pay him more than us, but probably not that much more because of the level and possibly his drop off in form/being dropped. Now it's is he going to be that much better off moving?Agents and clubs put feelers out. So O'Hare has probably had plenty of interest. anymore to this @Saddlebrains ?
Thought he wanted to go to the Premier League?
ExactlyI'm not sure he's even good enough to get into that Leeds side.
The article is based on who Paul Robinson wants Leeds to sign. Not sure there’s much substance
