What's the quoted electric range to get it down to 5%BIK?

My last motor was in the 12% bracket (39 miles).

Now I have an electric car which is basically free, which it needs to be to make up for the irritation of running it.

Very surprised at how little canvassing there’s been in this constituency. No knocks on the door, just one leaflet through from Labour.
Everyone knows that the result is a foregone conclusion.
There's apathy from the voters and politicians.

The Green Party getting absolutely pulled apart on Panorama.

Seemingly focused on wealth inequality abroad rather than sorting out what's going on at home. Have a long term policy of 'a world without borders'. Good luck with that.

It's a bit odd that members of other parties are being ridiculed on here, but absolute silence over the behaviour of some members of some other certain parties. One from the Greens is still on the ballot paper having likened Hamas to the French Resistance in the Second World War. Another called for Israel to be wiped out.

Like this thread, they're completely out of touch with most people in society and lack any real common sense.

So many of their policies wouldn't stand any scrutiny but don't get pulled apart because they're irrelevant.
They're a left wing version of Reform.
However, once Farage threw his hand back in with Reform, whatever anyone thinks of him, he massively raised their profile.
That's why they're getting it in the neck with their equally daft policies.
If, for example, Corbyn went to the greens, they'd be thrown right under the microscope.

No choice but electric from 2030 when Labour get in. Madness.
Unless they only were one term.

not sure how this can be a big issue for anyone when the current governments policy is to do the same by 2035
the zero emission vehicle mandate, the government’s pathway towards all new cars and vans being zero emission by 2035, is now law

A lot can change in 5 years - and needs to.
Battery technology, charging infrastructure, generating capacity.
EVs are expensive to buy and expensive to run in terms of insurance, the cost of using public charging points and their incredible depreciation.
Whole life emissions and other environmental damage aren’t great. This rush for ev feels a bit like Gordon Brown’s endorsement of diesel.
Starmer’s mates in Europe have an EV mandate by 2035, the same as current government.
People generally don’t want them, sales are being maintained by companies and company car drivers. Take up in Europe is also slowing.

Been out canvassing etc for 10 days (in Dudley)

People not very enthused. In order of frequency, issues raised are ...
Need a change
NHS
Cost of living
Energy bills
Immigration
Crime
Potholes

Of those who expressed a view ...
One Conservative, 3 or 4 Reform, 1 libdem, 20 odd Labour but ...
Roughly 30 per cent undecided.
The tory here had 52per cent of vote and big majority in 2019

Too close to call it yet
I'd suggest by your own figures that Labour will win the seat quite comfortably.

The undecided usually split along the lines of those who are decided.

Why the fuck does that make him a snowflake ?
He's highlighted a deliberate attempt by the press to falsely manipulate public opinion 2 weeks before a general election.

If its true (I emphasise if) then heads should roll.
He’s balls deep with the Russians that’s why

Pray Your Part
Philippians 2.4-7

‘Let each of you look not to your own interests, but to the interests of others. Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus … ’
All the world belongs to God. We are created to be interdependent and to seek the well-being of all people and all creation. We are called to love our neighbours. We cannot ignore our neighbours in distant places.

The UK has a large economy but has reduced its overseas aid budget in recent years.

Even reasonably small savings in percentage terms for UK spending have led in some cases to countries seeing the amount of UK aid they receive halved.

The issues of overseas aid are, of course, complex, and easily forgotten in an election campaign.

Let us pray today for courage, wisdom and generosity in our care. And let us pray, too, for the poorest in the world.
Guide the leaders of the world
with wisdom and compassion,
bring relief to those who suffer,
and lead us towards a world without hunger.
Hear us, good Lord.

You’ve just answered your own question there. That’s what newspapers do, they all have an agenda, that’s the game. This particular newspaper has been one of his biggest cheerleaders for years, the moment it criticises him he has a melt.
This is the same newspaper that ran weeks long campaigns to get both Starmer and Rayner arrested triggering police investigations (again) into both of them that ended in no case to answer. You didn’t see either of them flouncing off crying about getting solicitors involved.

So you expect him to see his campaign ruined 2 weeks before an election, by a newspaper deliberately looking to print BS???

Of course he's getting solicitors involved, he'd be insane not to.
If you think that makes him a snowflake I'm sure he ain't going to lose sleep over your opinion.

Give it a month or so before the same rag prints stories of Russian or Chinese attempts to manipulate the voting.
Honestly, how funking gullable are we???

Is it BS though? His links to Russia are hardly unknown. His “warning” was just parroting Putins warped narrative. There’s also no evidence yet that it’s damaging his campaign, no drop in polling has yet been witnessed. I bet his threat of legal action comes to nothing, he has a bit of history of threatening legal action when he has a melt. It’s the second time just in this campaign he’s threatened solicitors.

Most famously he had a melt and threatened the press with legal action when he was a MEP and they were breaking stories about his expenses and most specifically employing his wife on inflated wages. He could only threaten too as their articles happened to be factually accurate.

He’s a massive snowflake.

The Mail trying to gode the Russian ambassador into comments over Farage and the referendum party, so they can come up with some form of headline that paints reform in a bad light.

While obviously staying tight lipped over massive corruption within the Tory party or Sunaks tax affairs or the collapse of the nhs or the state of the roads, etc etc etc.

How's it goading? From what Farage said wouldn't it be weirder if he was called an enemy?

Isn't he just a different sort snake oil salesman to Corbyn, just appeals to a different demographic?

I see someone else has joined me in the Conservative option on the poll. To the disillusioned voters out there, I'd say v9ting Conservative is even more important at this election.

Labour will win by a landslide. My vote is pointless, it's always Labour here. However we need the numbers in the election to show there is a way back in the future. If Reform are the second option and the Conservative Party obliterated there is no way back. Reform at some point would get their chance. That would not only make us a laugh ming stock like Trump but is also very dangerous ( a la Le Pen), so be careful with your protest vote and I'd encourage spoilt ballots or stay at home over voting Reform.
Anyway sorry Rob you may not want to be here ;) but I'm trying to keep Eva's thread as he intended but this deserved a reply!

Firstly I could have sworn you lived Warwick and Leamington, and that only changed to Labour relatively recently and isn't exactly secure?

Secondly I kind of agree with you so have you a like. Voting Reform as a protest lets them in or encourages the Conservatives further right. My problem with it is that there Conservatives have managed to lurch right all on their own without any help from Reform or voters! This isn't even the party May led.

So I'd say voting for them encourages a move right as much as voting Reform as it endorses the disaster of the last parliament. What the answer is I don't know - traditionally the Liberal economic policy on their right is probably what you're after, but I doubt you're a social Liberal ;)

Vote Loony?

Ah, but you are ;)

Tbf they're all snake oil salesmen to a large degree.
Farage appeals to a growing number of people who feel alienated by the main political parties, and feel that their concerns are not being heard.

I think the Tory's in the main are shit scared of him. If he gets enough votes he could see the conservatives decimated at the ballot box, Hence the desperate attempt by the Tory press to discredit him.

It's strange how so many people can't or won't see it for what it is.

I agree on this issue. I think the current generation of EV's will be looked at in the same vein as diesels - lauded as an environmental gamechanger then later looked on as the devil after everyone's bought one. The process for getting lithium is very damaging environmentally and the amount of used batteries that will be need to be dumped will be shocking. Can see those 'bought a diesel? You could get compensation" ads coming back in a few years for EV's.

I think EV's (and possibly hydrogen) are the future, but they need to move on massively from where they are now.

I am W&L but we've been Labour in 20 of past 27 years and if Matt Western won last time in spite of a strong Conservative win, then I'd have thought him safe this time.

Monster Raving Loony it is for me now :)
