you could get someone else with Moores wages. But the combined wages of the others wouldnt even pay for anywhere near half a championship footballers wages
Raphael won't be on a kings ransom, so it shows there's young talent out there willing to come here and make a go of things.

I think the issue is our academy hasn't produced the level of talent that's going to break into the first team squad.
There's been no one come through since Eccles, Shipley and Bayliss.
So we need to bring in better quality young players who can challenge in a year or so.

I thought WBA had new owners who were loaded. Why would they need to sell if that's the case?
I said this to my baggies mate at work but he reckons there still not flush and will have to recruit sensibly. Their wage bill is quite high and they badly need a top striker so may need to sell before they can buy.

Although he’d be surprised if they let Asante-Thomas go as they are short up front already and he does a job for them.

Suppose if they want to bring in a real quality number 9 they might have to let him go if they can’t offload elsewhere.

The implication of the post i replied to was that the squad was weaker, it's not really is it?
Not in terms of quality no.

But defo short of numbers, but obviously there's more to arrive.

In reality we've only lost O'hare, but start the season with a fit Sakamoto, Binks in permanently plus EMC, Raphael and Rodoni.
So far so good.

I'd still like to see a Keeper, RB, LB, CM, and a Striker at least.
And we can offload Godden, Wilson, Dasilva, and Alan.

Worth remembering that at this point last season we’d only signed Dasilva.

Literally, I don’t think there’s been a player since the birth of the club that Stoke haven’t been “interested in”.

You’d think after all this searching they’d have found what they’re looking for, and yet they’re still shit.
If you have a story saying Coventry & Stoke are looking at Player A and another story saying Coventry & Stoke are looking at Player B, you can be sure the reality is we're looking at signing the good one and they are looking at signing the shit one.

Talking indirectly of Stoke, there's been no mention of us trying for McNally on either loan or to buy

Not sure where to put this tbf:

Does that mean the club will get a slice of that £935 million? Not sure how these things work tbf but if some of that does go to clubs then I wonder if that means we’ll have extra cash to invest this window?

Still don’t understand why we didn’t sign Burrows, apparently he’s gone for £2 mil, seems like a fair price to me, why we couldn’t put in an offer of £2.5 mil and beat Sheffield to the punch seems strange to me. We need a better LB than Bidwell and JDS, and Burrows seems like the ideal player. Feels like one we’ve missed unless management has better ideas?

Hes the ideal player except for the fact his defending is questionable and hes never played at this level?

McCallum was a better option

We've got a decent relationship with P'boro and their chairman said Doug was decent to deal with (or words to that effect).

I guess if he's gone there, we weren't interested in him. Maybe we've got someone else lined up?

Simple reason being we can’t sign everyone that we deem a good player. He goes in first choice left back now at a side just come down from the premier league. I’m sure we were interested. But not everyone can choose us. Plus, we have two under contract.

Ideal? As has been said his defending at a level below us was sub par, lovely left foot but gonna get caught out a lot.

League 1 Ryan Giles ;)

Honestly where do you think all this money is that you keep saying we should spend?

We've already signed Binks and Rudoni and haven't sold anyone. We can't keep making multi million pound signings unless we are selling one or more of Van Ewijk, Sheaf, Simms or Wright. If Gyokeres goes maybe there's some scope for more signings.

It's far from clear that he is good enough for the Championship anyway. As others have said McCallum on a free would have been a much more sensible signing.

I think we’ll see a couple more marquee signings yet

Its because he's not actually that good, his attacking play glosses over that he's an absolute wank defender, he'll be torn to shreds in the Championship. Bidwell is the superior player.

I could have sworn everyone was raving about Burrows only a week ago? Almost every comment on here was about how good he is, somehow there’s suddenly a massive sea-change now he’s gone to Sheffield.

I apparently don’t rate British players, as many of you have pointed out, but I think Burrows is alright, got time on his side, unlike Bidwell, and seems pretty aggressive going forward. It’s fine that we haven’t signed Burrows but I hope we get someone in soon that’s better than Bidwell, one injury, or a few tired performances, and we’re back to playing JDS which is just not good enough.

Good player is Burrows. I'd have definitely taken him for his attacking talent. Definitely susceptible defensively though. Will be interesting to see if he can step up.

No, people who knows he has a lovely left foot but don't know much about him have been saying we should sign him while others who watched the p'boro games after we signed EMC say he is great going forward but looks suspect defensively which would be worse at a higher level.

He is a good player but people can just ask if we want another suspect at back left back. Sheffield United could play their 3 at the back system and he'd be the LWB with less defensive duties.

From what I have seen, admittedly only on TV, he looks suspect defensively and not as good as we already have. At that price he has to be an upgrade.
