Let’s hope bidwell stays fit because I think left back is our biggest glaring weakness at the moment outfield

Exactly, if you're serious about Promotion you can't go into the season with only one first team Left Back.

Jay Dasilva is a Wing Back, not a Full Back. 🤔

First I believe the quality of your best player in each position is very important as they will play most matches barring injury.

Second I don't agree with your views on strength in depth. For example, are Simms and Wright weaker than Bidwell and Dasilva? For right back are van Ewijk and Eccles/Latibeaudiere weaker, or in midfield Eccles, Torp, Rudoni, Sheaf and Allen? I would argue Binks and Kitching is stronger too and Thomas and Latibeaudiere.

Other than goalkeeper left back is our weakest position with regard to quality of the first choice and strength in depth.

Wright isn’t backup for Simms. He’s got his own spot. At RB yes they are, ditto in CM. I don’t think LB is an urgent position. It’s a nice to have but I can see why we’re prioritising other areas of the squad. The expectation seems to be an improvement from Dasilva and one more year from Bidwell I’m fine with that unless someone exceptional comes up. But I’m more concerned at what we’d do if we lost Simms or MvE or who is partnering Sheaf.

Yeah I agree the future RB spot is pretty important, I imagine that Van Ewijk will be off next window if a decent offer comes in for him. I hope we sign that Camara geezer, or someone like that, in preparation for losing Van Ewijk (I’m resigned to the idea that he’s too good not to be in the prem).

Alfie May off to Huddersfield for £750k. Paves the way for Godden to Charlton now.

Rudoni cash used for May.
May cash used for Godden.

If Simms got injured surely Wright would move across and I am sure Robins has even said the long term plan was to play Wright as a central striker. Mason-Clark would come in in the left. We paid £4.5 million for him and some even think he will start ahead of Wright. I am sure he hasn't been bought not to play much.

No way is Bidwell better than van Ewijk. That's just silly, and it's not even close. I am not sure Dasilva is really a left back although he might be developed into one and Latibeaudiere/Eccles is at least as strong.

Who is partnering Sheaf? Take your choice from Eccles, Torp, Rudoni or Allen. Pretty strong I'd say.

I know it’s another very unpopular take but I’d love to see a better Sheaf-partner than Eccles. Great squad player, of course we should keep him, but it’d be nice to see us mix up our midfield once in a while, keep oppositions guessing what team we’ll put out or what formation we’ll be rocking.

It’s good to have those steady players but I feel Eccles qualities are becoming very much like Sheaf’s and it’d be good to have someone that can go long, turn a player, create space, dribble a bit etc. I don’t think we can fully trust Rudoni to do all of that on his own.

No one has said Bidwell is better than MvE. I’d be more concerned with playing Eccles or Lats at RB than Dasilva at LB.

and I disagree about midfield. None of those mentioned have shown they can boss a championship midfield yet.

Not much time left for these “incoming signings” from twitter, bet it’s all just shit-stirring.

Can't believe I of all people am saying this, but be patient

Godden to Charlton is done, as I say we needed to start getting people out aswell as in, FFP is a thing in this league and I wouldn't be surprised if we weren't far off breaching it

I'd expect to see confirmation of ins after July 1st

True, you must be much more level-headed than me, I just want to see signing after signing, it’s quite addictive tbf 😂

Talking of twitter and signing-addiction, I just saw us linked with LB Clement Akpa (?) on twitter, translation reads: “Coventry and Norwich (Championship), as well as FC Augsburg (Bundesliga) have already expressed their interest.”

I would be very surprised if we were close to FFP breach. We had an huge influx of cash last season and King has been pretty critical of clubs who have breached ….

Aren’t we going to have the same thing as the prem - wright for instance will be 7.5m over 4 years and Simms - 3.5 over 4 years whilst we brought in 35m in profit?

for the purposes of accounting will be in profit - isn’t it something like losses over 3 years

We did, but a fair bit of that went on Ryton, a good couple of million has been invested there. Apparently it's a lovely little place now

At the moment yes. Tavares on a L1 loan few clubs interested but he of course got injured
New injury? Or the fa cup semi final injury where he ripped apart 100 mill worth of defenders, got hacked down as they couldn't handle it, carried on and made it worse.

Just checking

I've lived in London over a decade and I've met 1 Palace fan and 1 Charlton fan in all my time. I assume they are very local to their areas but its still strange not to come across any. I've come across way more Coventry fans actually, we seem to get everywhere.
