True, but incredibly rare & getting even rarer. There were 62 on field reviews in the PL last season. I think there were only 3 where they rejected the VAR & stuck with their original decision.

Yes. They are using Semi Automated VAR, i.e. not relying on someone just having a guess when a ball is kicked & where to draw a line whilst using a 50fps camera.

I really don't know how we have managed it as we realistically scraped through as group winners and I do not mean to be disrespectful to any of the other sides and based on so far there is nothing to suggest we will even win later

I have said it all along my problem isn't with VAR it is with the inept people using it as well as the rules introduced - For clear and obvious errors no one would have an issue with it, for those who watched the L2 play off final last month, where a Crewe player made the most obvious dive and actually managed to dupe the referee into awarding a penalty, VAR stepped in and corrected it and that was great because if Crewe had been given that penalty it would have been an absolute travesty! If VAR was used like that then you literally cannot argue against it

It's when you start judging people offside for the length of a gnats chaff or with parts of the body you can't even score with when you start to get your problems - That isn't VAR's fault it's down to the lawmakers

Then again, is it any wonder we are here yet again discussing how shit VAR is following a game English officials have been in charge of it? For a major country in the game and the founding fathers of football our officials are embarrassingly shite and not fit for purpose, they must be a complete laughing stock

Only just saw the Anderson one for Denmark and thought it was very, very harsh

Under the current rules, obviously a pen. But it shouldn't be. I really don't see that he was trying to make himself bigger in order to stop the cross.

We didn't have to completely destroy the whole spirit of the game for that though

In the L2 Playoff, it was once again a ref being condemned for a wrong decision, not a single mention of a player intentionally cheating to con him. That should be where the focus is, with strict punishments for cheating dealt retrospectively. Attitudes would then change. Tackle the problem not the symptom.

UEFA have been impressed with both Oliver & Taylor during the Euros, hence them still getting the big games. They came out in praise of Taylor's decision to disallow the Dutch goal v France too yet he was widely chastised on here for it. The VAR though, yes, took too long to verify Taylor as correct but other than that they are working within the parameters set. In fact, they'd prefer we were even stricter with it. See the Georgia penalty vs Portugal, there's no way an English official gives that decision.
