Not for “never work again” money they don’t.
As it stands today, he’ll likely still need to work after his career that might end any time in the next 4 years, and very likely at the end of 4 years.

One move to a lower end prem or recently relegated club means never have to work again

That’s not the same as moving from company A to company B for an extra 10 grand a year

If he signs the deal Cov have offered him COH will never have to work again. You are making an incorrect comparison probably to suit a pretty weak argument.

Whats the deal offered then? Can’t wait to see the maths
Multi 7 figure signing on bonus ( the norm in bosmans of this level )
£1m basic salary a year
33% of salary bonus for perf
Super bonus for club promotion ( as refered to by @Saddlebrains )

So over a 4 year contract that would be circa £10m + and possibly much more …

Hearing Stoke have made a bid even though he’s available on a free tomorrow. What a ridiculous club.

So you think we shouldn’t sign decent players? Let’s get in a load of league 2 wannabes and give Godden and Allen a 5 year contract extension, that’d be your dream 😂

All I was saying is we should be aiming to sign someone with the all-round abilities that Bellingham has but at a championship level, i.e. a Bellingham-lite, a midfielder that can do a bit of everything but at a level that’s not world class, basically a bit like Rutter, can defend a bit, dribble past players a bit, shoot well enough, pass well, has a bit of speed. He’s clearly not Bellingham, I’m not saying that, but all of his qualities are in a balance that is similar to Bellingham’s style.
If it was that easy every club would be signing players like Bellingham. Name these mythical Bellingham clones seems as it’s so easy to find them.

You’re delusional to think we can get an extra 25-30 points on last season in one transfer window. That would be a circa 40% increase on last season. We would need to spend 50-75 million to do it and we clearly aren't doing that. A dose of realism required I think.

This is the kind of pessimism that pervades this forum and the Cov fan base in general, no one seems to actually believe we can get into the prem and I’ve no idea why.

We have one of the best run clubs in the championship, we have great new training facilities, we have a fully “gelled” squad that dropped a shit lot of points last year because we didn’t know how to play together, we’ll have a full season of having finally ditched shitty 5 at the back, we’ve already got 3 new signings compared to last season plus more to come I assume, the relegated teams from the prem are way shitter this season, we’ll likely have sell-out attendances almost every game (or close to), like do we need any more reasons to finally start believing we can get out of shitty division?

Firstly just to repeat, it’s not a “clone” of Bellingham I’m talking about, it’s someone in the mould of Bellingham, someone who has the balance in attributes as Bellingham but at a lower level.

The only way I can describe what I’m thinking about is if we say Bellingham has some stats of say: 85 pace, 82 dribbling, 79 crossing, 75 finishing, 72 tackling etc. then the player I think we should be signing should have that same “balance” of ability but just less quality, for example: 75 pace, 72 dribbling, 69 crossing, 65 finishing, 62 tackling etc. everything just dropped by 10 say.

And before you go on saying “hahaha it doesn’t work like football manager you idiot, blah blah blah” I don’t play video games, this is just the only way I can think of describing what I mean succinctly as possible. As for finding these “mythical players”, good scouting is the answer, we’re not looking for Bellingham, just someone with the “balance” of abilities he’s got, only at a lesser level.

So basically, the clubshould try and scout good players.
Think they might already be trying that mate

Well he skewed the question by basically saying “where are we going to find Bellingham from?” which is not what I’m on about therefore I can’t answer that because we can’t search for a Bellingham for obvious reasons.

Yes exactly 😂 I was just saying that I hope our scouts are looking for a CM in the mould of Bellingham, not because he’s clearly amazing, but because the attributes he has are what I believe we need, albeit at a lower quality, not world class quality. A “Bellingham-lite” is what we need in midfield I believe, we’ve got Sheaf who in this analogy is like Declan Rice, just need the quicker/spicier CM that is Bellingham, but obviously at championship-level.

Basically if Cov is the England team which positions do we not really have covered? For me it’s Bellingham and that’s sort of my point, we need the championship version of Bellingham if he’s out there somewhere.

Personally I love the Championship… obvs made up if we go up but if we are competitive each year in this league, I’m pretty relaxed about the PL. it would though be great for the fanbase who haven’t experienced it to see it… and the big payout of course.

The issue is sustainability in this league. You cannot be sustainable and continually competitive unfortunately, as I agree this league is fantastic entertainment wise.

You've got your head in the clouds and your argument is full of holes. Our training facilities aren't great they are ok. A lick of paint, repairing a broken window and a new flower bed though improves them, doesn't turn average facilities that were built 40-50 years ago into great.
How can the squad be fully gelled when we have 3 new players and still expect another 4 or 5 to come in? So around a 1/3 of the squad won't be gelled in.
You say the relegated teams from the Premiership are shitter yet Burnley went up with more points than Leicester managed, Sheffield United went up with 91 point's then signed Gus from us. Luton went up and had the best record of all of them.
Having a full stadium means nothing and we have many fickle fans who get on the players back if we aren't 2 up by half time. You hear it every time a pass goes astray, a shot is missed or a player in space doesn't get the ball.
I'm not a pessimist I'm a realist. We can get promoted but to expect to go up automatically is setting yourself up for a fall. Where do you think the extra minimum 25 points are coming from? Do you honestly expect us to finish in the top 2 above in no particular order; Burnley, Sheffield United, Luton, Leeds, Norwich, Middlesborough, WBA? All finished higher than us last season.
I'd expect the play offs with our current squad but the jump from 5&6 to 1&2 is enormous.

And of course let's not forget that last season we finished little higher than mid table , only just ahead of the likes of Bristol City and Cardiff.

Ahem. This division is not shitty. Can‘t see us fans enjoying the Premiership as much. At least we are top 10 in this league and actually doing better as a club now.

I can’t name any because there isn’t any in the championship that I know of, hence why we have scouts, that’s their job, to go out around the world and find talent that no one else has noticed yet. I’m clearly not a scout hence why I can’t give you any names.

I really don’t think it’s that big of a deal, I was just saying I hope we’re looking for players with similar attributes to Bellingham but at a more realistic championship level. I think Stamenic might have been someone with similar qualities but obviously nowhere near the same level as Bellingham, that’s the type of CM I hope we’re after, a good all-round ball playing midfielder that has a bit of class for this league. It was just a passing comment, I’m not saying this particular geezer “X” is the one to have and no one can say otherwise.

He scored one goal last season in the Serbian League and two the season before in the Danish League, and made minimal assists. He doesn't seem remotely like a Bellingham type of player. He seems to be a holding midfielder.

Alright I get your point, and I’m not having a go at your personally, I’m just saying we all seem to be so pessimistic on here, I honestly think we have a real chance of getting automatics this season (and I’m rarely this optimistic).

The point about the team not being gelled I do disagree with though, we dropped so many points at the start of last season because we didn’t know which position to play certain players, we changed formation quite late on from 5 at the back to 4 at the back and so it took a while to adjust to all that. I think this season our squad is more settled, we know where to start players and the new players we’ve brought add depth rather than relying on them to find their feet straight away, as was the case with Van Ewijk, Haji, Simms, Thomas etc.

Lastly, I expect us to finish in the top 2, as in that’s the standards I expect of the team, but in reality I think we’ll finish top 6. If we aim high we have the insurance of playoffs rather than aiming for playoffs and finishing 7th, that’s personally how I’m seeing this season.

Again, it’s not Bellingham I’m thinking of, it’s Bellingham-lite, there’s no way Stamenic is ever going to be better than Bellingham but to me (from what I’ve seen from limited highlight reels) it looks like he can play out well and can move into space well etc, they’re traits I associate with Bellingham, the quality difference is clearly miles apart.

Yeah he’s probably more holding than Bellingham is tbf but I’m under pressure from procdoc to give names for some reason and I was impressed with us being linked with Stamenic, so he was the first name that came to mind 😂 Someone like Stamenic but with a little bit more forward threat is what I’m picturing in my head, a cross between O’Hare and Sheaf is probably a better way of putting it 😂

There’s a lovely function on this forum, that I have utilised in recent times, to avoid the issue of being unnecessarily wound up by the ‘approach’ of certain individuals.

It’s called an Ignore button.

Personally, and speaking from a neurodivergent perspective, it’s a blessing in disguise. 😊

I may end up with only three people visible here, but at least it’ll be quiet.

That’s a good idea tbf, I’m sure many have that set up on my name 😂 I always feel like I’m quite fair with people and never start an argument for the sake of it, don’t think I’ve ever singled anyone out on here tbf but for some reason people love having a go 🤷🏻‍♂️

Maybe not every idea I’ve suggested is amazing but you’ve got to think outside the box once in a while. I remember last season being one of the few people on here calling for 4 at the back from the very start and I got absolutely slated for it week after week, some real nasty comments tbf and now look at us, all the better for playing 4 at the back. Obviously not claiming I had anything to do with it, there’s clearly no connection between me and Robins, but sometimes a thought that can seem mad is the solution you’re looking for, and I don’t claim to be the messiah or anything I just don’t know why people have a go at me every week 😂
