Jimmy's taken 7-35 today against Notts in what is potentially his last match for Lancs.

Still not convinced retiring was his decisions and he's not finishing because he's been told he's not getting a spot in the England side, which itself is crazy. He went from telling everyone who asked he hadn't even considered retiring to only playing the first test this summer seemingly overnight and after a meeting with McCullum.

Yeah, not his call but they’re planning for next ashes and he’s not been quite the same in recent tests. What a bowler though. Will probably be the best English quick I’ll ever see. Knowing him he’ll get a fifer next week !

Agreed. They've played so many quicks/seamers alongside Anderson and Broad other last few years and haven't seemed to decide where they're going moving forward. Woakes ageing as well. Robinson seems closest but out of form ATM.

My neighbour's from St Lucia. She reckoned the ticketting prices and game timings (set for Indian market) killed local interest in attending. You'd think with the TV money they'd do more on prices to get the locals in. Plus population of St Lucia is only around 170k. Plus there's just a thing where West Indian interest in cricket is just continually falling away - Tests get no crowds, ODIs some, 20/20 can half fill a stadium on normal tours.

this is kind of the problem thought isn't it. Lords, first test of the summer, sold out. Will be decent attendances at all the tests. Same in Australia and India but not anywhere else. How sustainable is test cricket when only three countries are really capable of staging it?

The BBC Sport live cricket website is a piece of crap! You used to be able to see the text commentary in the centre pane, with the summary scorecard down the right. This has now gone, and instead you have to toggle to another tab, and the layout of that is rubbish (e.g. doesn't say "Still to bat").
As for the "Scores & Fixtures", there is no entry for the Test beyond today, so if you were looking for something to watch on Saturday, it doesn't tell you about the Test.
Whoever has "revamped" the BBC online content needs to be shown the door!

Got tickets for day 2 of the third test in the Hollies. I hope there's a better showing from the Windies in the second test so there is at least a little interest remaining for Edgbaston.

My impression the Bears seem to think they can outscore their opponents whatever they score but last night they came unstuck.

Just finished a full match replay match on you tube. Absolutely engaging match all 4 days, great wickets for both teams, both low score first innings, then sheer run fests for both in second innings, last half hour very tense, you sensed history almost made, all three (four, rather) results still possible in final over. Highly recommend.

This "new" Test cricket continues to amaze. 86 for 1 in about a dozen overs having been put into bat. Growing up that was a good score by lunchtime Used to think Gooch was an anomaly but can't remember him being this prolific - mind you he often had Boycott up the other end

We paid £87.50 ea for day 2. That is for the Hollies but it's not the best view for cricket, so only a premium for the atmosphere. It would be like charging extra for block 15 at the CBS.

Just seems to mess with the balance of the side or something. I mean it should be a no brainer that they improve when you bring a player like him in but that rarely seems to be the case.
