It’s no secret there were choice words between MR and COH towards the end of the season.

Robins knew COH was off and came up with contingency plan (formation change and Rudoni)

then the talks for COH stallled and we made the offer to him.

Robins realised we were moving away from him and was reluctant to budge, hence the offer not at top earner and the timeframe to sign.

its probably best for all parties that we both go our separate ways now
That's categorically not what happened.

Vik is the only modern day legend. Never strung us along, was always clear about what he wanted, made smart choices, money brought in moved the club forward and, on top of everything.. looked genuinely gutted to leave. Gus and O'Hare scampered away to the only show in town like a pair of rats.
Hope Vik gets huge cheers if we're lucky enough to see him on our pitch again.

Agreed.

Vik was absolutely honest and open with the club about what he wanted to do, and where he wanted to go, allowing Doug to start negotiations with Sporting the second Dabos penalty hit Mars

As I stated before there is nothing but respect for Vik from all at the club and I'm glad the fans are also the same

As well as acting with integrity, he has funded a huge rebuild off and on the pitch that will stand us in good stead for years.

I and I'm sure the rest of the fanbase hope Vik continues showing how good he is and I'm sure we will see him take the piss in the Premier League soon

Go on then..?
MR wanted O'hare to stay, C.O. was on £10k a week and DK offered £11k which was instantly rejected. The offer eventually got increased to £12k a week take it or leave it, but by that time O'hare's agent had received offers from other championship sides of double that offer so the club were informed that CO was leaving. (This all happened before Rudoni was signed)

Apparently AV was fuming that we hadn't made an effort to keep O'hare, and he and DK had a blazing row, DK said that we'd paid O'hare a fortune over the 12 months that he was injured and was reluctant to end up in a Jodie Jones situation.

That's what I've been told, if you choose not to believe it that's fine, if you'd sooner I not post what I've heard then just say so and I'll keep it to myself, but I don't need some random total bell end like @shepard01 giving me grief over info I've offered to genuine fans.

Incidentally, DK got Oly Dovins transfer fee halved, in order to meet his wage demands which apparently put him up there with the highest paid players at the club.

Sorry to see COH go to a club like Sheffield Utd
But we have to try to put ourselves in his position
He was going to Burnley in the PL on a big contract only for it to be scuppered at the 11th hour when he picked up his first injury
It's difficult to imagine how bad he must have felt when he then suffered the terrible ACL when he came back
There were even fears that it was career ending initially, so bad was the damage
He'd seemed to have been impervious to injury before then despite being kicked up in the air week in week out
He must have been in despair
This deal will set him up for life if he's sensible
We would have received a significant transfer fee from Burnley so maybe fans would have been a little more understanding
I wish it wasn't Sheffield Utd though...

Any sense of where MR stood in this, did he think DK was being pragmatic or tight?

Sounds plausible and to be honest, think it’s the right decision. If there is concerns over his injuries we can’t afford him to be a top earner with our wage budget. Have you heard anything on when Dovins should be confirmed or any other deals?

The faux outrage on here - the lad dd nothing but brighten up the football club whilst he was her. The reason that I am not irked by his leaving is that we already have Torp, Rudoni and EMC to look forward to, regardless of any other incomings. Bloody good team left regardless, and we're still in the process of strengthening. Tats, Wright and Simms. Other top players in MVE, Sheaf, with Binks ours now plus a new hopefully top keeper. Thanks for the memories Cal, Gus, Vik, McNulty whoever. Look forwards, not back. Our team will undoubtedly look different in 2 seasons time, when we're cheering Billy von Beswick and calling MVE all sorts for moving to Juventus.

Dovins is done, just waiting on him arriving to sign. The deal took longer than expected due to his wage demands being way too high. We had provisionally agreed the transfer fee but couldn't meet the wages, so eventually a reduced fee was agreed and a compromise on wages done.

We are in talks with 2 other players apparently but no names were mentioned, so i can't help on that front unfortunately.

All I know is that MR wanted to keep O'hare, or replace him with similar quality.

DK then sanctioned the purchase of Rudoni who had been discussed for quite a while.

Rudoni is younger than O'hare and is thought capable of playing in the premier league, and could also have a higher resale value, and hasn't had an ACL injury which effects future transfer value.

It is fair to say we don't yet know how O'Hare will come back from his injury - Idon't actually think he played that well when he first came back either, just he got some goals which masked his overall contribution. Hardly surprising after so long out mind you. So I don't blame the club for being cautious.

And half this board is already sending Allen (filled in admirably for O'Hare in our playoff season with more goals than we got from the latter! Then was mostly injured / coming back from injury last season so never really match fit) and Palmer (starting to show what he can do) off to pasture, so given that little loyalty it's hardly surprising O'Hare might want to go either, is it.

It didn't bother me where COH was going, he made his decision. I thought our contract offer was fair, but if he can get more good luck to him. I wouldn't have wanted us paying him £20k plus a week, he is a good player with some good attributes but isn't top earner at the club good.

Really don’t understand the negativity towards Callum, he’s been brilliant for us both on and off the pitch, created some memorable moments and can only assume he wants a change and higher wages? Who the fuck doesn’t?

The way some people are reacting to him going is like they’ve just been binned off by a ridiculously hot girl and they’re pretending she wasn’t all that, “had commitment issues, was always getting on at me, would rather have the free time to spend with the lads” etc etc. Yes we can do better in time but he’s been a good player for us, no need to disrespect him, I wish him all the best and just pray he doesn’t score against us.

I find the criticism of Palmer especially odd. Surely he’s the sort of player we pay our money to see? Albeit a bit inconsistent.
It’s a shame about OHare going and if that’s true, and sounds like it could be, I’m slightly surprised that we didn’t offer him more.
Still, onwards and upwards and all that. The King is dead, long live Doug King! 🤮

On a very surface level Palmer is a good watch, i want to like him i really do, but fuck me he's frustrating and at times genuinely dangerous as he sets away needless counter attacks for the opposition.

I don't rate Palmer particularl myself... do rate Allen(!) But it's fair to say they've both been casually dismissed out of hand, so why shouldn't O'Hare casually dismiss us out of hand? Loyalty works two ways.

At present we do not know what went on, but this sounds more plausible than some of the bullying claims.

Think he was a different player when he came back from injury. A little slower and less inclined to tackle. Used to burst past players in the middle of the park and that was not so much in evidence.
He did score more goals and looked more dangerous around the box. His work rate was getting back to previous levels.
Apparently, it takes two years to fully recover from an ACL so he may bounce back.
Allen was great before his heart scare and his injury so a full recovery will give us a great option.
Palmer remains an enigma brilliant one minute, pants the next. Like all our midfield needs to score more.
