Indians in India can be extremely racist and very anti Muslim.
if you follow anything related to cricket on twitter its not long before you see loads of tweets from Indians that are very openly racist, and that's tame compared to their attitude towards muslims.

From the US, but very interesting anyway. Giving a universal basic income to homeless people ended up saving money.

It does baffle me in countries like ours where we’ve long given up on not accepting homelessness.

the pilot's organizers did not identify major differences in outcomes between the test groups and the control group. This suggests that giving more money to participants didn't significantly improve their outcomes after 10 months”

Im a big fan of UBI but there’s very little evidence of its efficacy.

A UBI will just whack prices up because everyone gets it.

If you're suggesting just giving it to homeless people then it's not universal.

If you do it as a negative income tax it’s not given equally to everyone. It’s basically a minimum income guarantee.
That's fairer. I've always felt the personal allowance should be set at the level at which a person can afford rent/mortgage, energy and food/clothing as why should you be paying tax if you can't afford what I deem to be basics.

Of course others would argue that it basically encourages people to not work. Why work numerous hours for 16k a yr when you could do no work and get exactly the same?

I am looking forward to the Taxpayers Alliance's report on this.

Monumental waste of money, and immoral policy too. Just think what positive good we could have done with this money.

Calm down.

Think he has to. He’s underestimated the depth of feeling on the topic, and his argument to not afford it is flimsy at best considering he’s happy to essentially issue blank cheques to Ukraine.

Not sure where the depth of feelings from. For all the noise even a majority of Labour voters support the policy

I wonder what the Office for Budget Responsibility will make of it.
