Just seen Bordeaux have gone under and all players released on a free. Would love to see us pick up zan Vipotnik
Yeh that would be a decent pick up. Shame though, pretty big club Bordeaux... hopefully they make some sort of come back.

It’s all hypothetical until the season starts. Even if Sakamoto starts the season, the long term trajectory is that EMC and Wright are our longer term options. It remains

Another point to make, Sakamoto’s xG stat wasn’t great, he scored a lot of low probability chances and if I’m being consistent, was in a short timeframe of Dec-Feb so I’m sceptical it was a flash in pan - I obviously it wasn’t but that’s what we seen with COH.

If EMC brings last seasons form into this season, we have a player who is twice that of Sakamoto. He could genuinely be a star for us.
I suspect much will depend on relative fitness of the four of them but I tend to agree given the amount we paid for him and how desperate we were to sign him EMC will start.

I have seen you and others say you expect him to be a star and soon to be playing in the Premier League. I have only seen fairly limited bits of his play on TV, but just wonder why if he is so outstanding he has never played above League 1 when he will be 25 by the start of the season? Before TomRad starts accusing me of being negative this is a genuine question not a criticism of EMC. I just wonder why people are so sure he will make the step up so comparatively late?

I’m very confident his game will translate, think EMC will make himself one of the first names on the team sheet before long.

Players improve at different rates, its hardly a new thing that applies to only Mason-Clark. I'll trust we've done our homework on him but I'll also trust my eyes, individually he was a far better player in League 1 than any of the players that got promoted with us from said division.
To reiterate though, I don't understand peoples obsession with this who will start thing... its nonsense. Different players will start different matches.

Get Ignatenko or Pedro Diaz too and we're sorted.
Both Ignatenk or Pedro Diaz would be good additions, both really comfortable on the ball and keep the ball ticking over, out the two I'd take Ignatenko he just makes the game look so easy and everything I've seen them do goes through that lad so would suit the way we play.

Ignatenko and my guy Bernede would dominate the championship 😂 with the likes of Rudoni, EMC, Saka, Sheaf and others around him, stuff Cantwell let's bring in the Ukrainian Pirlo!.....OK might of gone a tad too far comparing him to the great Pirlo lol

We signed Rudoni and Dovin they didn’t cost nothing...

Yeah and? I literally said I’m not against the idea of using loans or free agents.

We need more depth and, if possible, quality. If Sheaf or MVE gets injured then we’re going to struggle to match their abilities in those positions, let alone if Simms or Haji gets injured, we’ll have no real quality second striker for rotation then.

I'll also follow this up just to give one example off the top of my head. Pretty sure Toney was around 24 when he moved from Posh to Brentford.

Completely agree. Times have moved on for cov. Now we are making sure the squad is right. Players will rotate fluidly, so there should be no such thing now as a best 11. Players who rotate should all be at the right level if we are to get promoted
Which is why I would go for BNC if he is affordable and interested in coming.

I'd love to think there's a Hull version of you because he'll be fully losing the plot on the Hull forum as they only have about 4 players.
Give it time, its boring when you aren't linked with anyone yes but in reality we don't need much and we have time to do it. Chill.

Who has advocated spending zero ? Nobody & certainly not me - something you've just made up How do you know how much there is to spend ? You don't. Strange as you say £4.5M now, previously were happy to spend £11M and now are on about frees and loans .

You said that my idea of getting in players for depth is unaffordable, so I said that I’m not against loans or free agents, that’s where that idea came from.

I just don’t think you’re reading my comments fully tbh, I said we clearly have £4.5 mil minimum to spend because we were looking at Stamenic, and I can only assume that’s aside from the Rudoni transfer. In that instance I’m not on about how much I want us to spend total, I’m just saying we clearly have that in the bank otherwise we wouldn’t have almost signed Stamenic. So players aren’t unaffordable as you keep suggesting, we clearly have some money from somewhere.

What makes you think I’m panicking? I’m just stating that I think we need a back up ST and backup CDM, not arsed when we get them in but we need more depth as it is.

Who has advocated spending zero ? Still waiting for the answer to that one. I've never stated that we didn't have some funds and nobody has a clue what these funds total. The type of players you were on about previously were unaffordable and up to £11M is unaffordable unless some mystery funds have materialised.

We need to be in a situation where players are pretty near max fitness when they start. Players often say they are not 100% when they play such is the intensity of modern football.
I hope gone are the days when managers say we will give a player an injection before a match and hope he is OK. Or M Hadji, when he had to put raw steak in is boot so he could play.
Near the end of last season, Lati was playing with an injury, as we had no one better and he was lambasted for his performances. Eccles said he and Sheaf were running on fumes despite people on here claiming they should be able to play in every match.
See Boro, who were caught up in too many cup games. They battered us in the first half, then ran out of steam

I don’t think I have tbh, maybe on various threads here and there but all this is usually in reply to someone that says we don’t need any extra players, or something along those lines.
If we sign 3 players I would say 2 of them would be players we can improve and be ready to fill the gaps when the big news are inevitably sold . This is the new model and it will be interesting to see it pan out
