I think the issue is the fact it's labelled all about Tommy Robinson and "followers" and also that it's hard to have a discussion about some of the issues without being labelled a racist.

There is no discussion in the middle when it comes to immigration for example, it's either blokes on the boat or at the other end it's about "if you don't like immigration then you will stop brain surgeons".

People are scared of the discussion I think.
Couldn't put it better myself

While I'm thinking about it my one of my daughters and my sister in law work and teach in high schools (in Rugby)...I also have two Granddaughters in high school, they tell me there's a big problem currently with "white" kids being "groomed" by far right organisations and kids are writing WP and 88 on their hands and greeting each other with Nazi salutes.
I think a few members of the forum are in the teaching profession I wonder if this is just a very local phenomenon?.
It's concerning though.

That's the worry at the other end too.

It should be that there can be a discussion properly in the middle without the extremes at either end. If there are pricks doing that then they need to be nipped in the bud early doors and the people grooming punished.

Lots of work going on by the schools concerned to try to stop it 👍

Yup and the problem right there is that Tommy Robinson isn't the one to bring that argument.

Exactly this happened in the politics thread recently. There were people moaning that 'lefties' wouldn't engage in discussion. Asked what their suggestion was to improve things and was met with laughing emojis.

If nobody is prepared to engage how is anything ever going to improve. Guess its easier to complain that the wrong things are being done than actually put forward anything constructive.

Personally I have only seen this on the Prevent training video!
In sunny Northamptonshire I’ve taught in a multi-ethnic inner city school, and a rural town school over the last 12 months. The only thing I’ve witnessed that concerns me is at the rural school (98% white British for context) are parroted lines about immigrants, which are either from parents, but most likely from TikTok sound bites. The multi-ethnic school was full of very tolerant and welcoming students, that interacted really well.

It’s funny old world, a British serving soldier was nearly butchered to death on his way home from serving this country but it was on the news for only one day. A couple of British female police officers were were punched from pillar to post but the community of the offenders protest for the officers to be sacked.

Make no mistake about it, the vast majority of Muslims in this country have no interest in anything other than their religion. They don’t care about Britain one iota. You didn’t see them protesting against the Rochdale groomers did you.

The chief prosecutor of the groomers was a muslim

Said it in another thread but my daughters feel more threatened by white boys who have been groomed by Andrew Tate than Muslim men. The danger that the right has is that they’re far more sympathetic to the likes of Tate as he’s seen as an anti woke warrior and therefore the real victim. So long as they keep latching themselves onto the likes of Tate they’re equally as dangerous because they normalise him.

The biggest irony with the far right is their direction of travel seems to be making the west more like their views of what Islam is. Especially true in the US with the MAGA contingent and their Christian fundamentalism.

And?

Do you think there would have been Muslims protesting if it was white guys who had been grooming Muslim girls when social services knew all along? Of course they would there would be riots.

The vast majority only care about themselves and have no intention of integrating. You’re burying your head in the sand. Why do you think they don’t join the armed forces the number is pathetic, in the hundreds. It’s because they put their Muslim brothers all
around the world before they do this country.

They're not scared of the discussion. @shmmeee has asked repeatedly who we'd stop coming in and nobody seems to want to offer him practical answers. I offer suggestions and @Earlsdon_Skyblue1 transfers all his insecurities onto me without actually reading the text. I offer practical examples of what it's like for asylum seekers and I get a shitty answer from you about everyone standing and applauding.

I mean what's the point?

I'm happy to discuss it when people don't try to patronise or accuse of racism at every opportunity.

I'm not playing this game anymore. You can't go round tagging people about having insecurities when you're making posts like that. What Nick is saying is precisely correct. People are scared to talk about it in case they are labelled racist, which is something you have been chief of as recently as the last week. The whole reason Tommy Robinson has support is because there's a vacuum and no real normal and adult debate about things like this. His extreme views then get jumped on.

No one at any point on here has said we shouldn't support refugees or people genuinely seeking asylum either. It's just the go to sensationalize so we can't talk about it constructively. See the end of paragraph one for a never-ending loop and we're back to the beginning.

But you'll just discuss practical received experience of asylum seekers.

I will call the racists racists. Fortunately there aren't that many, but it seems they're allowed to be to their hearts content.

I'm not laughing at that, I'm laughing at you. You have nothing to say regarding the football and just come on random off topic chat threads posting repetitions about Andrew Tate like some sort of malfunctioning robot.

I'll discuss pretty much anything. Its the whole idea of a forum.

You have tried to imply multiple times that I'm racist. You forget that after a decade of seeing people's posts and interacting its enough to know exactly how other people operate.

Like I said. I'm more than happy to discuss things when people don't just try to patronise, shout racism and try to gang up when they don't like something.

You're a paranoid buffoon nick, I've even said specifically you're not racist. You do however let the racists do their thing while asking others to justify over and over again until they give up. That makes the board unusable. Where's the Nick who was equally happy to have a go at the reactionary righty stuff? That was there pre COVID.

I don't imply people are racist, I call them out.

Paranoid about what, exactly?

Who and what am I asking over and over that means people can't use things?

Now you're trying to get personal? Why?

So it's not the school parroting anything about immigrants at all then.
Do you find rural schools or any schools with around 98% white to be generally intolerant and is it such therefore that white parents who live in largely white catchment areas are racists ?

I mentioned racism yesterday, because that was a racist comment.

Imagine if the post had been women are gagging for it.

You simply cannot say Muslims are this, Muslims are that. There are so many differing factions even within Islam itself.

Said before, I have a most lovely friend. She is kind, considerate, not at all extremist in any way, shape, or form, has adopted the British way of life and embraced it. She is as nice a person you could ever wish to meet, so yes, I am offended to hear someone tarring them all with the same brush. There are 1.9 billion Muslims in the world.

People on here surely know me well enough to know that I don't shout racism at every opportunity.

That was not a deflection yesterday. You just can't say stuff like that.

We all know there are problems within Islam with extremism. But you can't make out all Muslims are the same.

Its so weird and I blame social media for that. When I was that age I don't think could even name politicians or MPs. I'd know who the prime minister was but I just wanted to play football all day every day and be a kid.
Yeah I think tbh it's more to shock people. Like chanting for Andrew Tate

It is social media though. I know one student who has told me over and over I am her favourite teacher ever etc was sharing racist tiktoks about shoot the boats etc

She's a good kid and I don't believe for one second she is racist. They just don't think at their age and share . She told me she only shared it because her parents talked about voting for reform to stop illegal immigration.

I am sure I said some dumb shit at that age. Part of growing up.

that is one of the funniest things I’ve ever read.

wait till your daughters are up town and in a club or bar surrounded by a group drinking just a glass of coke all night preying on young girls. sure their opinion will change then

Just last week. look at the ethnicity of the preying men

Me thinking you're racist.

Frankly I couldn't really care, I'm just saying it's why some people don't get into discussions or are worried to speak constructively.

Said it on the other thread that there's no real middle ground. People can have an issue with groups of blokes turning up on boats but actually support other types of immigration.

Have already seen on this thread that if anybody went to that thing then they are thick and racist (again, not you saying that).

My views on him as a person are pretty well spoken on the thread about him when he was in prison. He takes advantage of there being no middle ground and appeals to people who might only agree with one or two points but are worried about being called racist.

He's a c**t in it for himself. The whole labelling of it being about him is cringeworthy.

Things spread so much more quickly now don't they, through SM and the likes.
I know Andrew Tate got very, very popular through his YouTube videos and kids sharing those with others.

My missus' best friend has a teenage son. Lovely lad. Always has been, but last year he did turn and his attitude changed significantly, following watching Andrew Tate videos. He became quite aggressive and anti women for a while. His mum put him straight though and he has now denounced all that, so you are right, that for many, they grow and learn as they grow..

Once again while it's definitely something worth keeping eye out for BUT if it was white men you would just say lads looking to get laid.

What's fucked up is how many problems women have to look out for. It's only since I became a teacher that I see it from a more parental perspective and it's so worrying

Like I said, I've been about long enough to know how people operate.
And racist posts stay up without comment while others are sealioned. That's not modding.

I’ve seen men of all ages and backgrounds harass women in public over the years. It’s a male problem rather than a specific ethnicity.
