How do we fix the problem when the systems needed to do so are so broken? The prisons are full and underfunded & mental health services have been mercilessly cut. Brexit has made cooperation with neighbouring countries harder than ever.
The previous government spent it's last years whipping up people into a froth over the bizarre PR stunt that was the Rwanda scheme.
The new government are screwed, they have to untangle years of neglect. People will moan if taxes go up. Idiots will parrot stop the boats without any meaningful contribution as to how.
I do feel the least optimistic about my kids futures than I ever have before. I honestly haven't got a clue how this will all end
I think firstly for now, stop allowing people into the country unchecked to allow the country to sort their own shit and the people who are already here.
When people do come over, DNA test, age test and make sure people have papers and haven't thrown them into the sea.
If a foreign national or somebody pleading immigration commits a crime, straight back without passing go regardless of whatever they say about being in danger because they are gay or suddenly Christian. One chance to come to the UK and integrate and bring something positive to the country. If somebody comes and wants to raise their kids to have a great education while they graft then fair play. I am sure the vast majority do.
Knife crime, if somebody is roaming the streets with a knife then there needs to be actual punishment. Send them to prison with their mates where they will have a great time? What about some sort of hard graft that might give them a bit of discipline and respect the first time? I don't know the answer but prison doesn't scare them.
Prisons and police, they are a joke. They don't scare people. they can get locked up and make more money from their cell. It's not an actual deterrent when people have no respect. Look at the Leeds riots, literally zero fucks given about being on camera setting fire to things.
Mental health is always an easy excuse for things like this, I don't doubt that mental health services are lacking but the bloke who killed people in Nottingham had plenty of support to the point he just didn't turn up to appointments and evaded people trying to help him, How much can you offer to somebody who has come to the country, for free when you have millions of brits who are on waiting lists for mental health diagnosis.
Education. Schools arent fit for purpose and are only aimed at academic kids (my daughter is one but I know there are plenty who arent). There's no point forcing kids to sit and learn algebra when their brains literally aren't geared up to it but they are amazing at woodwork (for example). Start training them to be carpenters and joiners and let them excel at what they enjoy and will go onto do for a career.
If taxes go up, they need to explain why. It's all well and good saying NHS, Police etc but then sending billions to Ukraine.
