No. If EMC takes his L1 form into the Championship, he’s starting ahead of Sakamoto. Wright and Simms scored 19 goals apiece last season, they’re both nailed on starters.

I agree that Sakamoto is class, the other players mentioned are also class, classier.
I agree. No way we can drop Simms or Wright after last season and EMC has to be in given how much we spent on him. Unless we play four up front Sakamoto is benched in my view.

Still triggered by people talking about whos going to be benched when the idea is to have a squad the manager is comfortable rotating.

Agreed. I just said I think EMC eventually claims the shirt and was told I'm talking shit 😂

What a position to be in where we're discussing whether our £7m or £4.5m signing should start, when not long ago we were bringing Sean Maguire off the bench.

Really good footballer is Torp...I don't get the negativity about him tbh.

I really don't think anybody has called him out as a bad player? In fact I think everyone sees his potential? But the fact remains he hasn't fully established himself here.

At the moment he is a good bench player rather than a starter. Only he can change that perception.

I get that but some are posting as if EMC will never start ahead of him
It’s a long season, EMC will start plenty of games even if he’s not first choice from the beginning.

Given Wright’s knock he might start vs Stoke anyway.

But Wright was arguably our player of the season last year, he’d have to do a lot to be ahead of him in the pecking order.

What makes you think torp isn't good @Saddlebrains ?

I rate him. When he's fit. That's my.issue with Torp

If we had a Midfield 3 of Rudoni Sheaf Torp for 46 games give us promotion now

But we won't. Sheaf amd Torp between them will miss half the season with their usual rate of injury

We need someone of quality to come in and fight for starting instead of one of them, or covering when the inevitable happens ensuring we don't lose quality

Just my view

Couldn’t be arsed for this one as it was just a friendly but wish I’d gone now 😭😂

Genuinely interested, obviously we scored 3 but were Everton just rusty/shit or did we play them off the park? Not suggesting anything either way I just didn’t see the game.

Everton really looked a week behind us. We controlled the game, but they didn't really press, just stood off and let us play.

I didn't think it was much of a test for us

We move on it's meaningless.

Another CM is certainly needed and the club appears to agree.

We were desperate to sign him and spent a lot on him. Would be irrational then not to play him.
Again that is not an indicator of how a team is picked .
Do you really think Robins has a spreadsheet in front of him when selecting a side ?
He will rely on fitness and performance data and the input of his coaching staff
To suggest anything else is folly

That’s was like a proper game, tried my seats in block 11 was bang on.

Such a good view. Some will be wishing they decided to move closer to the away fans soon.

Will any team in the division keep their entire midfield fit?

And will they be at their peak for 46 games ? Eccles is more than good enough as he has proven for the last two seasons and Allen is a clever , adaptable player . We do need another cm but to suggest only 3 out of our 5 midfielders currently are good enough is silly

Rudoni left mid alongside sheaf will be unreal if we manage to keep sheaf. With Eccles and torp also important midfield will be solid. I’ve never seen us have a squad with so much quality.

Everton were ok for the first 15 minutes and missing some first teamers, they looked a lot less fit than us at this point in pre-season 👍

Best thing for me tonight was the way new coaching regime seems to have instilled the confidence in players to make positive runs for each other. I know it's early days, but this side looks like it could perform to a level we haven't seen in ages.
