I was thinking aiong the lines of

Dovin

MVE Thomas Binks. Bidwell

Torp

Saka Rudoni EMC

Simms BTA
No way do I see him playing 2 central strikers away from home, that would leave us massively out numbered in midfield, and neither Torp or Rudoni are renound for their defensive work.

Leave BTA on the bench and put Eccles in as DM and you've got a far more balanced team imo.

Think I’d go:

Dovin
MvE Thomas Binks Bidwell
Torp Eccles Rudoni
Saka Simms EMC

S: Collins, Lats, Dasilva, Kitching, Sheaf, Allen, Palmer, Wright, BTA
Agreed, the only possible change being Wright on the left, with EMC playing AM in place of Torp who drops to the Bench.

Depending on Wright's fitness of course.

Whatever the team is, there's more than enough attacking talent there to beat Stoke.

I can see allen starting for some experience in the side, starting all the friendlies lately. Torp might start the Bristol instead, I think he still looked a bit rusty and not fully fit yesterday. Hopefully Sheaf is back though.

No idea how we approach that weird double header in Bristol, really was the shittiest possible draw.

Dovin
MVE Thomas Binks Bidwell
Eccles
Torp Rudoni
Saka. EMC
Simms

Robins inevitable 65 min subs

EMC ⬅️ Wright ➡️
Saka ⬅️ BTA ➡️
Torp ⬅️ Allen ➡️
Eccles ⬅️ Sheaf ➡️

only caveat being is if Sheaf trains ok this week then he will probably start ahead of Eccles as he has still had a decent pre season.

Any draw in the first round of the league cup is likely to be 'shitty'. I hope as per usual MR swaps the team around to give the squad players some minutes. Hopefully this year they will still be good to get through, but if not its no real big deal as its a pretty meaningless competition these days until you reach the semi finals.

Got a feeling Doug wants a crack at all the cups as it can lead to Wembley and generate decent tv and ticket revenues. We do have the squad to have a right go in the cups.

Only good thing about the League Cup is giving a run out to squad players. The league cup provides next to nothing in terms of TV and ticket revenues, unless you draw one of the big 6 or make it to the semi final. FA cup is a different matter though and is always a competition we should aim to give it our best in.

Agree. We need to get competitive minutes into the players and the first few rounds of the cup come early so it's a win win really as we can ensure time is spread wisely.

If Sheaf is fit then the only decision is who gets the last spot in the game day squad as Kitching is out. Is it Howley, Burroughs, Tavares, Obikwu, Andrews or AD.

Or is this week is going to be an interesting one and we see a few different names in the squad.

Wright isn’t going to start when he’s only played 15 minutes in pre-season

Robins did say everyone is ready to go for Stoke and Wright made an instant impact v Breman.

His preseason with us has been short but given he was at the Copa America, his fitness levels should be there to start if Robins wants him too.

Hopefully these riots will have calmed down by the weekend otherwise with police forces overstretched the opening games may get postponed.

Good to see Stoke fans angry about how shit they look in friendlies and underprepared for the new season. Away win would be a great way to start.

Funny club aren't they - They have spent an eyewatering amount of money since they got relegated to not finish outside the bottom half

If the Bet365 mob weren't so generous as owners they'd have gone to the wall years ago

Sign of things to come and level of importance; All the Championship games are at 12.30 to accommodate the 15.00 charity shield showing. Its bullshit ! I hope everyone shuns it !

I don't think Wright will be ready to start, especially in an away game. So EMC for me.
I think MR will be tempted with Palmer but again risky away from home when we need sustained work rate/tackling back.
Torp and Rudoni hopefully will do the central creative stuff with Saka doing it wide.

...and more than enough defensive weakness to lose to them
