This violent far right movement based around EDL, football gangs and fascist parties has been building for years.
Southport was bound to develop into a serious incident given what had happened with other riots. Instead of being ready to nip it on the bud they left a handful of local coppers to get battered, the thing to simmer and spread on social media.
They now need to quickly convict and jail for years some of the most violent as an example. And go after the ringleaders as a priority.

As much as I’d like to see some of these people get a slap, where does the vigilante-ism end? Far right twats get a beating, go after people the next day tooled up, etc, etc. Needs to be nipped in the bud by law enforcement.

The worst thing that could happen now would be mobs of any colour or creed looking to take revenge.

We do need the police to crack on and start arresting people, sharpish. Not just the people who were there, but the people who encouraged them. Seize their phones, most of them are so fucking dumb that they will have self incriminated with videos and chat messages. Get some long sentences on the go, and maybe behaviour will start to change.

I would also hope that we're looking to get an international arrest warrant for Timmy (edit: Tommy!) Robinson. Apparently he's now scared for his own safety, I'd cheerfully offer him one of those nice warm cells for his own protection. Maybe they've kept his old room available.

I'm the meantime, the far right are always banging on about how prison is like a holiday camp - I guess a few of them are about to find out.

While i don't entirely subscribe to your theory, there is definitely a post-election vacuum with regard to control of immigration issues. While the new government would inevitably have some wriggle-room or honeymoon period for getting stuff in place, they have already done (or said they will do) quite a lot on other stuff (reforming planning laws, public sector pay, etc) but there is s definite lack of action on immigration, which is not helping to quench the flames of the right.

Far as I’m concerned, having seen some of the bits of footage, the people trying to burn down a hotel with people inside it should be charged with attempted murder/ arson with intent or whatever the right lingo is.

not at all, just disappointed that some people point blank refuse to condemn without trying to bring politics into it.

edit… clearly in your terminology I’d be termed “left” in terms of immigration even though I’ve never voted in my life. Hugely in fact. But this isn’t about political views, this is about people openly trying to murder others, attack the police, and launch a wave of horrendous violence & terror on the streets. I don’t give a shit where you are on the ‘political spectrum’, that’s something to condemn.

I would have an understanding of why causes like BLM/ Palestine did similar things and yes, I’d have synpathy for those causes- but the minute you start doing stuff like we’ve seen in the last few days then you have to call it what it is & condemn it, no matter what your views are- it’s wrong, very wrong.

In 2016 we ensured that 2019 happened which ensured that Boris immediately relaxed the standards for immigration, ultimately leading to a peak of 1.2 million immigrants arriving perfectly legally in 2022. So to say it was un-curbed is complete bollocks. The ultimate irony being that the people who championed and voted for this change genuinely thought they’d voted for the exact opposite. Most still do.

Those in charge have never had any serious intention of cutting migration. It was inevitable that non-EU migration would go up.
