I don’t think it’s a bad thing to separate this violence from that crime TBH. I know that’s the supposed justification, but the two reasons given (it was a Muslim, then that there was an armed Muslim at the vigil) turned out to be bollocks and from the footage there’s little protesting and a lot more looting. In the same way a bunch of kids smashing up Radford shops in 2011 had little to do with Mark Duggan.

Disagree. We need to look at the timelines. The Leeds Roma incident. The Manchester airport. The girls in Southport. To separate them from what's happening would be wrong. The response to them should have been protests not riots.

There has clearly been footage of rioters smashing stuff up and the police standing back. There was also that racist attack, when a bloke clearly punches an innocent black guy in the face and the police are there in the background and do nothing.

Yeah, it's a fair point. We are seeing tiny clips. Doesn't give the full picture. We should have learnt that from the airport incident.

For the initial Southport riot, yes. The rest seem to mostly be kid and social media driven and easily dissuaded bar a few pockets. I think it’s an entirely different phenomenon driven by social media and school holidays as much as anything and will fizzle out like the 2011 ones did once people start getting locked up.

Mobbed up pent up aggression warm night it's inevitable. I imagine similar to a lot of the other rioters. I doubt they were intent on causing trouble and got carried away. The best away to avoid being involved is stay home. Once again the best defence we have is rain. Until that cones, this will continue and possibly escalate.

It’s a planned protest and counter protest talked about all day and was planned for. The kid has probably been caught in the open after attacker the police or something.
