I see the Palmer bashing has begun. Seeing as he actually played last night, instead of the 5 minute cameo on Sat.

He played a fine pass into Simms, who scored. 1 assist, 1 game. Kasey is a great option for us this season.

As for Tavares. Despite giving it a good go last season, it was clear he's no winger. Still think he could be effective as a CF, but with Simms, Thomas-Asante, and Wright around he will get limited chances.

Give him a 6 month loan to a L1/L2 side, playing as a CF, and see what he can do. If he scores bucketloads of goals bring him back in Jan and give him some chances in that position.

A player with no self control who is constantly trying the Hollywood passes and flair touches is more of a liability than an asset. Story of his career.

But that's what he's there to do.

Robins is not an idiot, he doesn't keep picking him expecting him to play safe 5 yard passes and then being surprised when he doesn't

He often plays Jamie Allen yet you among others criticise him for that?

Totaly agree about Palmer, he's capable of providing the killer pass, he can be frustrating, but I'd sooner see him in midfield than Allen or Torp.

Palmer gets bashed because he's obviously very talented but he's frustrating as fuck. It's annoying when you see someone who has it all but has the decision making of someone who has decided to marry Katie Price.
Hopefully he can put it together more this season.

Only Palmer gets this level of forensic analysis into the quality of his assists 😅

Let’s face it m8, for some on here it was a goal literally made of fuckingnightmares..

Nice bit of play from Dasilva to set up Palmer for the assist…

Showing the kind of strength and determination that our midfield lacked against Stoke.
Palmer's first thought is to turn and run at defenders. Obviously, it doesn't always work, but he'll always create at least 2 or 3 openings in a game. Our midfield against Stoke created 1 between them all game (Rudoni's run and pass into Simms after 60 seconds)

Wilson was very good. I really liked the double stop, straight out rhe City Unseen training exercises.

Lati shouldn't play right back, he is painfully slow and seems to have the spring of a broccoli when he jumps to compete for a header.

Thomas needs to stop trying to play balls into the midfield that he doesn't have the ability too.

Torp looked good in flashes again, still think there's a proper player there.
Eccles was very good.

Fabio showed flashes but is too lightweight

BTA looks a very good signing, worked hard and fed off scraps in the 1st half and then looked sharp when Simms came on.

Wright looked awful, needs to get back to driving at defenders.

Da Silva looked competent and average, a good squad player.

Palmer put in a vintage Palmeresque display, carried in the 1st half and better from then. Don't think it's a coincidence he looked better off the left.

Bristol play a very nice style of football and defensive shape was very good. They invited the ball into midfield and then collapsed onto the receiver a number of times. They also trapped us into the corner, particularly with Lati a few times. They should've been up at half time, we were better 2nd half by a good chunk.

It was over hit.

That is nitpicking bordering on an agenda. It's a great assist under pressure and playing at speed. Who else is making that assist happen in our squad? Also a great first touch and finish from Simms.

It reminds me of the comments about wright and Simms in the early parts of last season.

I have at last seen the highlights.

Wilsons saves were pretty routine and one in the first half he pushed out to the wide player and the second half s shot straight at him he parried back into open play.

I'd be expecting pretty much every player in the squad making that pass from that position.

No one is hating Palmer or bashing him. The consensus amongst those on the negative side with him is that his decision making needs to be better. It’s just an improvement he could make, it’s not apocalyptic criticism.

Actually I thought Simms first touch was slightly heavy .

Ive not seen any other current player create an assist like that. Find me one please.

He has six assists in 63 league games

Coventry second choice players against Bristol second choice players (in the main) until our subs changed it completely. Taking into account they were at home, overall we edged it, but only completely after the changes. That said, in the first half, they were going through our midfield like a knife through butter (see also Stoke away). With better strikers they would have scored one or two.
Apart from his throw that got JDS booked, Wilson was excellent (MOM).
The back four played ok especially JDS and Kitch. Lati is not a progressive full back but never let the team down.
The midfield were a bit meh with Tavares particularly disappointing. Hadji Wright is a bit behind with his fitness but there were signs he was getting back in the groove. Palmer played his usual game looking really good and awful sometimes in the same move, although he got the assist.
BTA works really hard and at times is making the runs but the ball is coming too late and he is caught offside.
All the sub were good but they should be against a tiring second string. Rudi needs to hit the target when he gets chances. A problem Huddersfield fans highlighted.
