I love the people on twitter claiming this could have happened in the Metro Bank. There's zero chance the ECB are signing off on Stokes playing in that competition.

Windies vs South Africa second Test started today. Had on in the background during work.
17 wickets fell.
I initially thought it was a strong start for the Islanders following the rain drenched first Test draw to limit SA to just 160 odd runs (amazing 60+ 10th wicket stand by the way), but then Windies go on to rapidly lose wickets themselves, about at 100-7 or so to start play tomorrow. I'll be tuned-in until the Oxford game starts, but so far a strongly interesting first day of the Test that should promise a convincing and entertaining result one way or the other.

The ecb obviously hate it and are trying their hardest to wreck it with ridiculous schedules and holding players back from playing in it.Metro Bank fever!
Speaking of which a friend of mine, well friend of a friend, works on socials for another county. They were commanded from on high to stop posting so much about the Metro Bank fever as it was getting too popular on twitter

I checked score and was worried when they had lost 5 early wickets. I'm not sure the 100 helps counties in one day cup as it appears players can only play in 1, surely it is stupid for 2 competitions to be held at same time

I think they said on the stream that Dawson was the playing for Hampshire after returning from the 100 the day before.

The Leicestershire coach was complaining that he had a couple of injuries to his one day squad yet couldn't select players from the 100 who hadn't played in the last couple of 100 matches. I suppose Dawson's 100 team are out so he was released

If Woakes had been available for the Phoenix would he have got in the team and got a bowl as this is a well balanced attack.

Mentioned before that we're seeing managed decline of the Blast to clear the way for the Hundred but that's nothing compared to the Metro Bank. Quarter Finals were on Friday, semi-finals today which obviously doesn't give much time for people to make plans or for counties to sell tickets.
Today of course is also finals day for the Hundred so there's zero TV coverage of the Metro semi-finals. Still that schedule must mean we get the big showpiece final next weekend at Lords? Should be good, bank holiday weekend, hopefully decent weather, should be a sell out.
Oh wait, the final is at the end of September and at Trent Bridge.
Anyway, so far so good for the Bears. Glamorgan are 44/4.

Also every year they've announced that somewhere in the region of 30% of ticket sales are people new to cricket. At face value that looks good but 4 years in if attendances are going down and a large percentage of attendees are first timers doesn't that mean people go and don't come back? Surely that would be a worry. Seems very similar to Wasps, make the tickets cheap, get people in but don't create long term fans.

I love how they keep quoting 'record for a women's match' too. Sunny afternoon, men's due on after, of course there are a lot there. in position, clearly cricket fans and a few beers before the main event. Stand them alone and see how many turn up. Not having a pop at their game, it's growing and improving all the time with a lot of catching up in a short time already, but let's not pretend it's something that it isnt.

Somethings not right at the club. The playing side flatters to deceive but off the field they seem far more concerned with property development than running a cricket club.

I think some of the members would take relegation to get rid of the coach but they wouldn’t get either Trott or Bell at the moment.

It's a mess.
Counties argue it is actually making a loss and that ECB are using clever accounting to show a 15m profit (sky contract 220m a year).
Now in calendar conflict with US and Canadian T20 who are apparently offering bigger contracts. All the bigger Aussie names were in US T20.
Chasing outside investment but most counties don't want to give up controlling interests.
All the while ECB & sky letting T20 "diminish" while rest of the world are pushing it in further.

The 100 has been good for women’s cricket but no use for men’s. It’s time to get rid of it and get behind the blast, they need blast games every night and even two games, play it over a shorter time period in the school holidays. It is far to spaced out to get the best players in it.
