Wanted him to make it, and he showed real glimpses of it even in pre season. That Spain game where he skinned two players from a standing start was insane. He needs to believe in himself.

But sadly this is probably the end of the line for him here unless he absolutely rips it up
Me too, left behind by ambition I guess!

Left behind by the rate of progress at the club. It's a shame but it happens. It might be different if he were 18 but he's 23.

With Howly and Obikwu rumoured to be off on loan too certainly suggests things settling down a little and hopefully a few wages saved can add up to support a slightly larger wage. A CB who frees Lati to cover RB or another DM to allow Eccles to cover RB would be the hope I guess at the moment

Not sure the auditors agree with that approach

Probably not tbf 😂 Though in terms of FFP, or whatever the correct regulation phrase is these days, surely we’re not exceeding anything? I don’t confess to be up to date on these things but I’m sure you’re allowed to make a £10 mil loss before you overstep any FFP boundaries? (I could be massively wrong on that, and I’m also obviously not condoning a £10 mil loss 😂)

Lati is clearly the understudy considering he played there in the cup and Burroughs hasn’t made a squad this year

So you're saying we will go into the season with Lati as the understudy for both RB and Right Centre half?

Burroughs was easily good enough back in the games he played in the play off final season, and has now also had more experience

I feel if he's been allowed to leave, another is coming in

It isn't like Tavares, Obikwu or Dausch going out on loan where we have options there

I seem to agree with every post you make Saddle, I’m standing firmly in the Bedwetters United camp 😂

Some people were saying we shouldn’t “bet the farm” on this season but I really don’t think spending £3-5 mil on a bit of quality in midfield is betting the farm tbh. We’ve got highly valuable assets in the 4 players you mentioned, sell any one of them next season and we easily pay back any investment on a midfielder from this season. One of the best shots we’ve ever had of reaching the prem, I don’t think we should potentially squander it because of slight overspending.

I honestly can't believe how short a memories some fans have. Spending beyond your means is how clubs end up out of business. Just 2 years ago we would never have even imagined spending 2 million on a player let along the 4/5/6/7 we have spent on multiple players in the last 2 windows.

It's so easy to make generalised comments or predictions that spending 4/5 million on cm will get us promoted. All fans at the start of the season have tinted glasses and think they can challenge. But it never ends with just one more player, what happens if we sign this CM and we are in 7th in January? People will be asking for x/y/z for just a few million to get over the line, you can't bank on future funds. Like everything it's too unpredictable. Even in our recent history O'Hare and Jones have had big moves scuppered by injury.

It would be the worst luck ever to lose multiple big players to such circumstances, but I don't imagine if we miss out on promotion next year having spent this 5 million this year gambling on it. Fans will accept 1/2 of the players being sold to cover the costs, without then wanting replacements to go again.

Hopefully there is still some funds available but if there isn't, I for one don't want us gambling the clubs future. We have a good squad, yes I think we all want a couple more additions, but not at any cost, and only for the right player. And if they aren't available then so be it.

I'm surprised Burroughs hasn't stayed as you say, on paper he's the choice as understudy and proved capable awaybat Watford that time as well as a few other cameos.

But I felt MR wrote him off after two pre season games where the feedback on here was that he'd gone backwards. And sure enough he's not been seen since.

I don't want Lati as a long term rb option if heaven forbid, mve got an injury

Remember his debut v Watford at LWB 2 years back. He looked great. He then played RWB in a handful of games, including the Wrexham disaster . Didn’t really impress. In any of those.
Robins didn’t play him again.

Burroughs clearly wasn’t in the plans I don’t think him leaving will affect any incomings. Wouldn’t be surprised if we do bring a RB in though, probably loan.

I think it all depends on your attitude to money & risk. I’m firmly in your camp as well.

Where was Jones lined up to go to?? I missed that one.

Well got to hand it to you, you’ve outdone me for words, not an easy task 😂

I take your point but I do think that the chances of all 4 players mentioned being unable to be sold next season is ridiculously slim, so slim that I think it’s worth the risk tbh.

Also I don’t like this notion that keeps cropping up of how “we should be grateful for where we are” or “look where we were a few years ago”. It’s a business and I doubt many successful businesses stop taking opportunities to expand just because they were once smaller a few years ago. We should concentrate on where we’re going and what sort of club we are now rather than looking back at what we used to be.

If we don’t end up bringing anyone in before the window closes, are the playoffs still within reach? I’m not that confident from a defensive standpoint from I’ve seen so far. Also it appears several teams are getting deals over the line at the last minute.

Jack Burroughs has been loaned out to Kilmarnock. Hopefully, we’re making progress on bringing in a CB (Worrall) or RB at least.

Good luck to him!
