You've made an obscure, irrelevant point. If my auntie had bollocks she'd be my uncle yada yada.

However you swing it, £2m is pretty steep for a guy with just 6 professional goals in Belgium and the French 2nd div.
Nobody signs a goal record

I'm not writing him off. In a vacuum he's fine. But when he's presumably coming in behind both BTA and Simms it just seems odd that we've paid a fairly significant fee for him as he's unlikely to get much playing time (and if he does, where does that leave BTA?).

Just can't really get my head around the logic of it all.
Try and look at it from a different viewpoint. The one thing that's stopped us at that final hurdle in the past 2 seasons is our serious lack of depth. Imagine we had the options we do now in that play off final. If we want to compete with the bigger teams we need some serious strength in depth. I think we are making some really smart investments. Yes we are lacking in a couple of areas, but they know this. Work going on behind the scenes to bolster those areas.

It's a no brainer of a signing for me. Obviously highly rated and been looked at by other European sides .
Key for me is his age ,like Rodriguez, is that he is one to work on now but very much for the future.
We are going to lose players over the coming transfer windows , hopefully for big fees , and we will have readymade replacements for them
It's the model , trust the system

In other words following the Brighton model

Or he's a uni student that watches some niche football and knows how to work fbref/transfermarkt etc.

Nothing against him. He does seem to have an odd reverential status on here though.
I like him . He's quite a passive poster who obviously is a massive City fan .
I remember the days when I was obsessive about football

Exactly this, really important that the fans don't get on his back and get behind him. He could prove to be a lucrative signing. Look what the coaching staff made Gyokeres into. Potential for all these signings (given time) is promising. You're right, we will lose some (unless we go up), they will be for big fees, which will only see us grow as a club again. Win win.

When I have discussions on here or in the real world about stuff like this I always reference the Brentford promotion season . They had years of this model/process that we are a few years into ourselves and sold Benrama and Watkins for big money
They reinvested and got promotion
The system works , the process works we all need to buy into it

Just caught up on the last dozen or so pages:

Don’t get the bed wetting re lack of signings/noise; there’s plenty of time left in the window and we’ve proven many times we don’t leak signings (e.g. Bassette).

Don’t get the excitement for Worrell. We have 4 CB’s and play two. The word ‘leadership’ has become tickbox jargon on here the last few weeks. Back up RB is the better option if we want another defender in.

Don’t get any pessimism about this season at all.

But I suppose we won on Friday and played well, so the bedwetters need something to be negative about.

A proper right back would be way higher on my list of priorities than another centre back

well, Burnley have agreed a fee for Joe Worrall, and interestingly have also signed Bashir Humphreys…..

and Luton have signed Liam Walsh….

Burnley despite Parker being a cockwomble look to be in prime position to win the league
Luton on the other hand seem to be trying to pay for a new stadium without any thought for trying to get promoted again

So basically he’s a youth international
that took a Ligue 2 club to the French version of the Youth Cup final, was one of the best players in the tournament alongside now Bayern striker Mathys Tel, went out on loan and looked impressive.

Came back from loan, figured out some decent size clubs were in for him and stopped playing to force a move. And it seems like we offered the best fee.

Could be another wonderkid who doesn’t live up to his potential or could be our next £20m sale in two years time when he’ll still be only 21.
